October is Sonic Month

Well, not officially, but I'm making it unofficial. For awhile now I've been wanting to do the first four Sonic games for Retro Game of the Week, and now I finally have them all. But then I thought, "Why not go all-out?" So along with the four games, we'll also have two Sonic-themed Amazing VG Themes and a RETROspective on the history of Sonic.

That's right, for this ninja, October is Sonic month, and I hope you make the most of it. Sonic gets a lot of flack. Sure, he's not as good as Mario, but he's still around today, and he still has good games today too. So let's give the guy a little love this month. Hope you're looking forward to it!

He still has fun games, but his games have really been up and down the last 15 years or so. I'm certainly looking forward to it though.

There are not too many Sonic games I like. Sonic 3, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Advance 1 and 3, Sonic Spinball, and Sonic 3-D Blast, and that's pretty much it.

I'd like to know how to play these games. They always feel totally out of control for me. TOO FAST! I hope this month of Sonic helps me get over this.

Hopefully I can help. They definitely play completely differently than Mario, and I think that was the point.

Sounds like a cool idea! If you have extra time after all that (haha!), you should play Sonics Colors for the Wii. It's really good!

Actually, I picked up a copy of Sonic Colors a couple months ago. Planning on playing it this month (when I find time).

You'll like it. I remember one really annoying level near the end but otherwise it's great. I wish I had had time to go through the whole thing again after finishing it. Having all the powers opens up new routes.

A Knuckles guy, huh? Well, I'll be as fair as I can on the franchise. Despite the "speed" aspect, it's behind Mario. Hm, how does that work?

Have you tried Sonic Chronicles? Good game.

Sonic is your fave game character? Not Viewtiful Joe? Interesting.

I have played Sonic Chronicles, but sadly, did not get very far. It is easily the most unique Sonic game, being an RPG.

I love Sonic. Like you I think he gets some undeserved flack, but I've never had a Sonic game recently that I at least didn't have fun with. I even had fun with games like Sonic Riders and Black Knight...or even yes Lost World.

Wow, that's amazing since you're such a big Nintendo fan, right? But even Nintendo fans can enjoy Sonic games. I think every Sonic game can be enjoyed to a certain extent.
