New Skyward Sword Footage - Eldin Volcano and Fire Sanctuary

Classic lava areas are revealed in these new Skyward Sword videos.

Things get a bit heated in these two new videos for the next chapter in The Legend of Zelda franchise, Skyward Sword.   The videos showcase two new areas in the game's massive world: Eldin Volcano and the Fire Sanctuary.

The footage doesn’t offer much as far as new details go save for one new item in the form of the Mogma Mitts, a pair of gloves that allow Link to access underground tunnels by digging through soft patches of Earth.  This ability seems awful similar to the digging mechanic available to Link’s wolf form in Twilight Princess and though it was only revealed that Link could use the gloves to access underground tunnels, they will no doubt have other uses as well.  Check out the videos below to see for yourself and let us know what you think the mitts could also be used for in the comments section below!

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword arrives exclusively on the Nintendo Wii on November 20, 2011.  Be sure to stay tuned to PixlBit for our review.

I'm loving the environment design and general art of the game in all the previews that continue to show up. It's a great balance of the realism from Twilight Princess and the bright colors of Windwaker. I for one have never really been clamouring for a darker (literally in brightness and color) grittier Zelda. I think the visuals for Skyward Sword here are just about perfect.

Time for a Change: Evolving E3 Through Technology

Nintendo made waves in the gaming industry recently when they announced that they wouldn’t be participating in a traditional press conference at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Right off the bat, people started in with the doom and gloom. Oh, Nintendo is fading fast! Nintendo doesn’t have anything to show! Rhetoric like this was prominent --as was talk that the entire E3 conference is a dinosaur -- and perhaps Nintendo is reading the writing on the wall and is beginning to part ways with the trade show. This sentiment has been circulating for years, and even though I believe that E3 is vital to the gaming industry, it’s high time that the show evolved.
