Sony Releases List of PSP Games Compatible With Vita At Launch

The list includes PlayStation Minis as well.

Sony released a list of PSP games and PlayStation Minis that will work with the PlayStation Vita at launch. Because the Vita will not use the UMD format, all of these titles refer to their digital incarnations that were purchased via the PlayStation Store.

Community, Not Publisher, Funds Double Fine Adventure

The next game out of Double Fine Productions will be entirely funded by community pledges.

Sometimes miraculous things happen in the video game community.  Double Fine Productions, creators of cult favorite games like Psychonauts, Costume Quest and most recently Double Fine Happy Action Theater wants to return to their roots and produce a simple “point-and-click” adventure game that they are aptly calling Double Fine Adventure.  Usually a developer would have to rely on a publisher, investors or bank loans to bankroll such a production, but Double Fine has instead decided to reach out to the community to fund the game.

Killzone on the PSN Postponed Indefinitely

The port is now stuck in limbo.

The original Killzone was set to be released on the PlayStation Network on January 24, 2012. As of this news story, it is February 8, 2012 and that release date has come and gone with no word as to when it will be released or why it wasn't as scheduled. It appears that Sony has postponed Killzone 1 indefinitely.

UMD Passport Won't Be Available to US Vita Owners

UMDs are only good for the PSP now.

Sony before had mentioned that physical copies of PSP games would be available to Vita owners for a fee. Dubbed the UMD Passport, some, not all, PSP games will be available at a discount if you previously purchased the UMD. Except that it won't after all.

The Simpsons Arcade Game Review

Aye Carumba!

Konami brought many great, well-known beat-'em-ups to the arcades in the late 80's and early 90's, and all of them but one have made a transition to home consoles. Yes, The Simpsons Arcade Game is the last and perhaps best classic Konami beat-'em-up to be brought back, and for those who've played all the other classic Konami titles to death, there's enough variance and originality here to keep players hooked.

PSN Accounts to Become Sony Entertainment Network Accounts

Despite the change in account branding, the PlayStation Network brand will remain intact.

Yesterday, Sony began distributing emails to PSN users to alert them of a slight scheduled change to their accounts. In an effort to unify their various digital brands, Sony is establishing the Sony Entertainment Network and subsequently converting all PSN accounts to be more universal SEN accounts. While the overall digital service Sony is providing will carry the SEN branding, the PlayStation Network brand will remain to accommodate all of Sony's gaming consoles.

Puddle Review

Puddle is about as fun as stepping in one.

Not many games have bored me like Puddle has. This game is a victim of itself, providing a very simple and laid back gameplay mechanic that is so relaxed that it may put gamers to sleep. If it’s not putting you to sleep, it’s frustrating you with gameplay situations that you would rather not be in. While the game is somewhat acceptable in short bursts, playing for any time longer than ten minutes will either enrage you or tire you. Simply put, you probably wouldn’t care enough to play the game
