Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness Review

In a complicated world of wacky demons, you sometimes feel right at home.

I would love to say that I’m a huge fan of the Disgaea series, however, I’ve never played a single title within the saga until Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness. If there was ever a game to make me fall in love with a series though; it would be this game. I entered this lengthy saga with my mind wide open, and I fell in love with a punishing and grindy game that continually made me go back for more. This colorful adventure (colorful in more ways than just its palette, I assure you) proves that a deep combat system coupled with childish and quirky humor can be crafted into something beautiful that will entertain for hours on end.

Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories Review

His ATK modifier is OVER 9000?!

Friends, let me talk to you for a bit about addiction of a gaming nature. I’m sure you’ve experienced it before: that sense of falling into a game so completely that it takes over your brain and keeps you up until the wee hours of the morning. That game would be Disgaea 2, a PlayStation 2 game recently added to the PSN marketplace as a PS2 classic.

Hello, and welcome to a very special edition of Nerds Without Pants! Patrick takes the helm this week for the holiday that was named after him. That...may not be an accurate statement, but the name of the game is all sorts of clever tricks and cons in the world of video games.

Legasista Review

The menu system is about as tough as saying the name of this game correctly.

When given the opportunity to play a new game by NIS Software, the role playing game player has to jump at the opportunity. With such inventive, intellectual properties in the genre, it would be difficult to see a lackluster effort coming from the creators of the Disgaea series. But, I'm sorry to say, Legasista happens to lack lust. Compared to the flagship franchises from NIS, it has a poorly paced storyline and a dearth of new gameplay ideas.

Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten Review

Its charm is undeniable, but is this complicated tactical RPG worth your time?

Just so I'm not pulling any punches, Disgaea 4 is the first game in the series I've actually played. While it has taken four iterations for me to take notice, it's clear to me why Disgaea has become a fan favorite and is often mentioned amongst the best games on the PlayStation 2 and 3. This unique flavor of tactical RPG gameplay comes complete with an engrossing world, characters, and a story that's rife with social commentary.
