Ragnarok Odyssey Ace Review

Fun, but forgettable.

Going into Ragnarok Odyssey ACE I was excited. To find out that the game was a spin-off of the one MMORPG that I actually was fully engrossed in for a period of time was a treat. Though this game and Ragnarok Online are indeed very different, the similarities and shared aspects were apparent from the get go. However, while I enjoyed those aspects, I may have been better off getting the Playstation Vita version.

The Wolf Among Us - Episode 3: A Crooked Mile Review

He’ll huff, and He’ll puff…

*This review contains minor spoilers*

The latest episode in the “Fables”-inspired Wolf Among Us was an interesting reminder of the strengths of this mode of storytelling. While the previous episode was hindered by slower moments and a lot of buildup, this one ramped things up a bit by continuing the mystery and introducing new characters. By throwing a slew of tough and divergent choices my way, “A Crooked Mile” helped remind me why this series can be just as effective as The Walking Dead.

Nerds Without Pants Episode 44: Turnbuckle Talk

It's still real to me, damnit!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. ARE YOU READY TO PODCAAAAAAST? Well, good, because Patrick and Julian are joined by JD and fan favorite John Gholson to talk about some rasslin'. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you aren't a wrestling fan this episode of Nerds Without Pants just might help you understand why some of us are.

inFamous: Second Son Review

Power Fantasy

Entire consoles and companies have risen and fallen on the expectations of  exclusive, first party titles like Second Son. Often seen as the PS4’s first must buy game, there is a lot on the line with Sucker Punches first foray into the new console. While elements of the game may not live up to the grand expectations, once you make it past the hype still you get a sequel that not only stands on its own, but is also engaging, pretty, and a heck of a lot of fun.

The Walking Dead: Season Two - Episode 2: A House Divided Review

Raising the stakes.

Telltale has chosen to make a statement with its second episode of Season Two. Through some great character moments and some really tough choices, I reached points of happiness and distress during “A House Divided”. Whereas Episode 1 was great on its own, Episode 2 reminded me why Telltale’s storytelling ability is to be reckoned with.

The Wolf Among Us - Episode 2: Smoke and Mirrors Review

The plot thickens.

Something about the atmosphere surrounding Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us has been a huge draw to me. The dark and twisted story surrounding some of history’s most endearing fairy tales makes for some really interesting narratives, because of our ingrown attachment to these characters. Episode 1, “Faith,” set a great precedent for episodes to come and Episode 2, “Smoke and Mirrors,” continues to build on that foundation.

Assassin's Creed Liberation HD Review

Femme Fatale

After 2012’s disappointing Assassin’s Creed III, I was beginning to get burned out on the franchise. The idea of Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation on the PlayStation Vita seemed interesting as it decided to tell the story of a French-African heroine named Aveline, but the draw wasn’t enough to get me to invest in a Vita solely for that game. However, with tales of Assassin’s Creed IV restoring faith to much of the series’ fan base, I grew curious once more. In an attempt to rediscover my interest in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, I went into Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD – an HD port of 2012’s Vita adventure – with some optimism. Thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed.

Nerds Without Pants Episode 39: The Mushy Stuff

I love you, you love me...

Howdy folks! Julian here again. It's close to Valentine's Day, or Single Awareness Day as I like to call it. Last year, Patrick came up with a very smart, high-brow topic, but this year I decided to be super uninspired and talk about romance in vidya games. Join us, will you?

Call of Duty: Ghosts Review

If Michael Bay made a video game, this would probably be it.

Call of Duty: Ghosts set out to be a fresh start for Infinity Ward. In some ways it is just that – Ghosts introduces a brand new story line that will undoubtedly take them a few titles to complete as well as a few game types in multiplayer that are new to the Call of Duty mold. When all is said and done though, this latest entry doesn’t draw me back to the series and if anything, it only proves why the formula has grown so stale over the past few years.
