Good!

Just watch this video first.

This is most interesting news/theory about Nintendo’s next-gen console, code named “NX”. The guy talking in the video theorizes that Nintendo might not include a optical drive in their next console due to some patients that Nintendo files recently. Which makes a lot of worry because we still enjoy physical copies of our games. Sure using Steam is awesome but some people like myself still cannot commit to downloading 50 GB plus games just yet. However Nintendo could go back to cartridges via large capacity SD cards. Blue Ray discs can hold up to 50 GB on duel layers discs. While SD cards can go upwards to 128 GB; although speed might be an issue. Plus let’s not forget the failed partner ship between Nintendo and Sony over the Playstation/SNES CD. Nintendo would probably never pay to use the Blue-Ray format anything soon.

I’m kind of on board with it at the moment because lets face it, optical drives do fail. The less moving parts, the mostly likely the console will last longer. Its pretty wild and it renewed my interest in Nintendo; hopefully they don't go crazy with the gimmicks. The gamepad sounded like an cool concept but ultimately I feel that it doesn't really add to any games; its just cumbersome to use.

Carts would be cool, but they are expensive.  If Nintendo can keep the carts at a decent price, I would buy them.

I don't know, I just checked amazon and 64 GB SD cards are going at the $40 to $60 dollars range.

This is a terrible idea for Nintendo. Having  a presense in stores is important for holiday sales when parents buy a 'game thing' for kids. They also need the visibility of shelf space. Hell, I see those amiibos everywhere any time I go out to a store now. Also Nintendos eShop is terrible. They don't have nearly the large library that either Microsoft, Sony or Steam has and their games are still very expensive compared to other systems. Even my PS4s hard drive seems to be filling up fast already and I've only had it for a few months. I heard people joking about Nintendo putting future games into amiibos. That would be cool.

And also, where the fuck have you been rmsk8r05?

Amiibos? I barely see any when I go to Walmart or Eb games. The Eshop is terrrible, especially on the 3DS; just awful to navigate.

I've been at work half the time, or playing videogames. Just not enough time to blog as of lately.

I don't put any stock in these rumors. I remember in 2005 whrn people were saying the Revolution  (now known as the Wii) wouldn't have the D-pad or A and B buttons. Fast forward a few months and that's pretty much all they kept on the Wiimote

Or the changable face buttons, I remember those rumors too.

Seems like another attempt to draw hits by suggesting they're doing what Microsoft tried to do. I think everyone knows after that fiasco that gamers don't want a console without an optical drive. Still, I can't help thinking this is what the console makers want and that they might try it again sometime.

Microsoft just wanted to avoid using the Blue Ray format but consumers pretty much made them use it. Nintendo is probably on the same boat right now, I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up using Blue ray as well.

I think that it is too early to speculate on what Nintendo's next console will be like, so I'll wait until I hear from Nintendo before I start making any Hank Hill freak out noises.

2016 is coming up pretty fast and the WiiU hardly has any 3rd party support right now. I just hope Nintendo pulls those 3rd party games back.
