I've never done a blog about an iOS game before. What is there to blog about? Angry Birds? Doodle Bowl? Think we all know what they are about. Fairly simple and fun ways to pass the time on your iPad or phone. But lately I've discovered some good lengthy games to play on iOS. Hollywood Monsters is one of them. It's a port of a PC game from Pendulo Studios. When they made the iOS version they changed the two main characters. They became Liz and Dan,who are both reporters.

The story revolves around a studio where real monsters play themselves in films. They need no makeup or costumes, they're ready to go just as they are.The mechanics of the game run very smoothly. You find items and they go into an inventory that you can access anywhere. You can combine items and drag them to a character to be used when called for. You just have to figure out the right time and place to use them. It is a point and click style game. But it adds just enough movement and active parts that it does not get boring. The puzzles really make you think, which i like. It can be challenging, but you can get hints at any point from the guy who narrarates the story. There is also kind of a flow chart of scenes that shows you the next objective.

You encounter many off the wall people and creatures. You have to choose your words wisely to get the desired outcome from conversations with them. The voice work in the game is outstanding. Sometimes feels like you're playing out an animated adventure movie. The cut scenes never obscure the fun, just drive the story along nicely.

The story takes you to a variety of locations around Hollywood, which keeps things interesting. You switch off gameplay between Liz and Dan. Sometimes they are interacting with each other, and sometimes they go solo. They seem to dislike each other, and compete for the story. But they end up working together because they need to combine forces. It's a pretty interesting game if you like the whole point-and-click type thing and you have an iPad or IPhone.

What I'm listening to today........

My son and I saw this band perform at a club in Tulsa. We were right in front of the stage. It's incredible to be that close to someone who sings that well. Simone Simons has such a voice!

The art-style on this game looks awesome.

It is pretty cool. They put out a similar game a while back called Runaway, which is now on iTunes. The sequel was announced at GDC this year from what I heard. This game was originally titled The Next Big Thing. It gets a bit confusing when ports go to iOS.

Hollywood monsters looks really good. I remember seeing it before, but I forgot about it.  Thanks for reminding me!

You're welcome. it gets kinds hard to find really deep games on iOS. But it's improving this past year.

Never heard of Holly-Wood monsters but I kinda get this vibe it would also be a great animated series! An ongoing story about two reporters interacting with "real monster celebrities" could be very intriguing!

It plays out much like a show. So I think you have a great point. Would be sorta cool.

Hollywood Monsters definitely sounds like something I'd like, too bad I have Android. Oh well, Noom Weight Loss Coach is more important to me to have anyway.

Epic song choices today. I tend to prefer standing in the middle-front of the crowd, though, sometimes I get too close to the monitors and things just start becoming hard to make out. Still, can't beat getting up close and personal at concerts.

I tend to get up close if given the chance. I'm pretty tall,so I see fine at most club shows here in town. At that show my son was drawn to Simone Simons like a fly to a big ham sandwich. She reached out and touched his hand once. Thought he was gonna lose consciousness!

What's this? The game screen looks so clean and uncluttered without crap icons filling up the screen. I demand an explanation, sir.

I reviewed that game but I couldn't get into it like a TellTale point and click game for some reason.
