Hello amazing people! I thought I'd write a blog today, becuase even if no one reads it it was still fun to write it. I'm fairly new to this site and this community. I'm greatly enjoying my time here so far and look forward to posting new content in the future. Comments are always appreciated.

My lazy Sunday will be filled with choices like "Should I have more coffee?" and "Which game should I play?". Given the coming work week, I hope this is my toughest decision of the day (because really, you should always have more coffee).

Games currently in my systems:
PS4 - Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
XBox 360 - Banjo Tooie
Wii U - The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD
3DS - Castlevania

What is everyone playing? What are you looking forward to? I myself am patiently waiting for the new Paper Mario Color Splash to be released. I also wish I had a copy of FIFA 17.

For now...I think it's Castlevania time. Enjoy your Sunday!

How is the Kirby game? I was going to get it but I'm not really into robotic games. But it is Kirby, and I love those Amiibos...

Super charming, and actually uses the 3D really well, like A Link Between Worlds. I need to finish it and do a review.

Oh I loved what they did with Link Between Worlds. I look forward to your review!

Agreed! It's really great. If you like Planet Robobot, be sure to check out Triple Deluxe as well. Very similar in a lot of ways, just no mech, so they have a bunch of different gimmicks. Robobot is actually what I'm playing right now as well. That and Rhythm Thief (which is also great, minus the motion rhythm games).

And, of course, I'm always playing some Souls game. Right now, Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. Patiently awaiting the DS3 DLC...

Looks like I'll be picking up Robobot pretty soon! I loved Triple Deluxe, so much fun.

I really want to grab Dark Souls 3 as well...so many games, not enough money! But Paper Mario is a must before anything.

Dark Souls 3 is really amazing. It easily takes the second spot in the Souls ranking for me. I know Blake didn't love it as much as I did, but I played it like 3 or 4 times back to back after I got it. Once the DLC drops, I'll be going back again for a fresh playthrough.

I mean, realistically, I love all the Souls games almost equally. They all have different quirks and rhythms, despite all being very similar. These small differences make them interesting and fresh to come back to after playing any other game in the series. Basically since Dark Souls came out, I've been playing through a Souls game, which is kind of insane, but I just can't get enough. Despite knowing and seeing basically everything, there's almost always something new to see and experience or a new play style I haven't tried to make it seem fresh and new. Those games are all master class.

I love a franchise that has such replay value, especially considering that we're now sinking $60 plus DLC money into every game. My husband bought me Star Ocean because he thought I'd really enjoy it...I stopped playing it about halfway through. I like certain parts of it, but the parts I dislike are so bad that I can't even push myself to finish the game, and that's sad because I could have used that $60 (plus $30 guide book) for a game like Dark Souls! Haha...win some lose some I suppose!

PS4 - I am Setsuna

You will be busy for a while with all of those great choices :)

I hope you are able to stick around and post more blogs and read some of ours soon!

Here's what I got:

Wii U: Mighty No. 9

I'm not really playing it right now, though.  I got it at Amazon for 14 bucks and played the first level.  Then PAX West came along and I got a deluge of Wii U digital games to review after that, like Axiom Verge, Shadow Archer, Noitu Love Devolution, and Jotun: Valhalla Edition.  So I'll have to come back to it later.

PS3: Nothing

Nothing in the disc slot, but I am going to be working on reviewing a new Marvel themed set of pinball tables for Pinball FX2, and some anime game called Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters or something.  Aksys never asks, they just send me review codes.  But I like ghosts so we'll see what it is.

Vita: Nothing

I haven't played my Vita in a while.  Last thing I played on it was Adventures of Mana that I reviewed.  It was pretty decent.

3DS: Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer

Not really playing that, but I did just get finished reviewing Picross 3D: Round 2, and now I'm playing Phoenix Wright: Spirit of Justice!  Yay!  --Cary

Thanks Cary! I have Happy Home Designer but haven't played it yet. I'm playing Paper Mario Sticker Star in between getting mad at the original Castlevania.

I do not own a PS3 or a Vita. For some reason I bought a 360 instead. I think I was nervous Square would stop making games for Sony...glad that never panned out!!

Cary Woodham

09/25/2016 at 08:49 PM

I have a 360, I just have it put away.  There's not anything new I want to play on it anymore, and it was also acting funny there toward the end.  But it did last me ten long good years, and was my favorite game console of last generation.

I may have to get a PS4 soon since Square has so many good games coming out for it.  I played World of Final Fantasy at PAX and loved it.

First of all, super jealous you went to PAX! Secondly, I'm super glad to hear somthing about that FF game because I was confused by it. But the collector's edition looks so neat...tempting.

Cary Woodham

09/26/2016 at 01:59 PM

World of Final Fantasy looks like Square made a FF game just for rme.  For reference, my favorite FF games are 6, 4, and 9.

And since those are my favorite as well, I'm now sold.

Casey Curran Staff Writer

XB1- ReCore

PS4-Dragonball Z season 4 (that thing is mostly a Blu-Ray player now for me)

Wii U- Pokken Tournament

3DS- DKC Returns-Which is mostly ignored for Ace Attorney 6 and SNES games

Vita- I'm pretty sure FFX is still in there. I really should get back to that game.

Catherine Hauser Staff Alumnus

09/25/2016 at 10:21 PM

Yes, go back to FFX because Auron! Haha...because spitting alcohol to set it on fire to kill things is such a legit limit break.

Hey. It's great having a new face around here, so keep up the blogs!

As for my systems:

Wii-U: Xenoblade Chronicles X

PS4: Dark Souls 3

PC: Volgarr The Viking/Guild Wars 2/Dawn of Discovery/N++/whatever else is easy to play while listening to podcasts.

Catherine Hauser Staff Alumnus

09/25/2016 at 10:29 PM

Will do, thank you :)

N++ is so much fun. I love that I can play it just for a quick break at work. How is Dark Souls??

Blake Turner Staff Writer

09/25/2016 at 10:49 PM

Yeah N++ was great. I read your review on it too and thought it was pretty great but was too out of it to comment. Better than my flu ridden review was going to be anyway haha.

Dark Souls 1 is my all time favourite game, so I am at once super bias and super nitpicky. I'm one of those weird fans who doesn't think difficulty is the be all and end all, so I find some of the obvious attempts at difficulty in the sequels to be a bit on the nose. Also, some of the charm was lost with the budget, as I think quite a few of the weird quirks I love about DS1 were a result of work arounds and odd fixes. Also, the super connected world is gone. And after the gloriousness of Bloodborne's setting, this feels a bit safe.

I'm going to stop now, because I feel like I could talk about the Dark Souls series for at least another 7 paragraphs.

Catherine Hauser Staff Alumnus

09/26/2016 at 08:17 AM

Glad you liked my review! I agree with you about difficulty. I don't think something needs to be frustratingly hard just because some asshole out there will be able to do it and brag about it. Games have to retain some level of playability or they lose a bit of fun.

Vita - SteamWorld Dig
PS4 - Enter the Gungeon
Xbox - DOOM 3
PC - Cookie Clicker

Also, I disagree, but that has more to do with the fact that I only ever need 1 cup of coffee.

Catherine Hauser Staff Alumnus

09/26/2016 at 08:13 AM

I envy your one cup of coffee! I want to play DOOM, but I am complete garbage at first person shooters.

transmet2033

I put a lot of effort into make a worthwhile single cup of coffee.  I hand grind the beans.  Use the pour over method.  Use a 13:1 ratio of water:coffee.

Catherine Hauser Staff Alumnus

Well now I'm staring at my inadequate cup of coffee and wondering what life could really be like.

transmet2033

I have completely ruined a co-worker, and find myself having to brew him a cup every morning.(i'm not really complaining, just stating a fact)

PS4 - Telltale Batman, Soma, and Dragon Age: Inquisition

3DS - Dragon Quest VII (playing this the most)

Gamecube - Skies of Arcadia

Wii U - Twilight Princess (Gotta get back to this)

Catherine Hauser Staff Alumnus

09/26/2016 at 10:38 AM

I also have to get back to Twilight Princess. It's so beautiful...and it's flipped, which just blew my mind in the beginning.

PS4 - The Talos Principle (and starting up Deus Ex Mankind Divided soon)

3DS - SMT IV Apocalypse

Vita - Steins;Gate

WiiU - I think Tokyo Mirage Sessions is still in there

Catherine Hauser Staff Alumnus

The Talos Principle sounds interesting...what's it like?

It's really fun if you enjoy puzzle games.  The difficulty isn't too bad either.  For the most part they are all manageable if you try hard enough, and unlike some other puzzle games (like The Witness) there are rarely ones that seem like they are just trying to make you give up.  I've just about completed it (I think there about 100 puzzles) and I have only looked up maybe 5 or 6 solutions (and a couple of those were just because I was placing things just slightly wrong).

You are an android (maybe?) and between puzzles a disembodied voice claiming to be god talks to you.  You also interact with random computer terminals where you read a bunch of different stuff (passages from books, blogs and emails from some past? civilization), and then eventually start communicating with another person (or maybe just a AI messing with you?).  It's a pretty neat little mystery/story added to it.

Catherine Hauser Staff Alumnus

09/27/2016 at 04:45 PM

That sounds like a lot of fun actually. I'm glad to hear it's not too hard, because I don't need a game to be impossible. I want to enjoy it. I'll check that out, thank you!
