Long day, short blog:

I'm super excited that Final Fantasy Distant Worlds is coming back to Chicago in September for the 30th Anniversary of the series! Nothing is better than FF music performed live by a symphony orchestra. Nobou Uematsu himself will be there as well. It will be my third time seeing him!

Now to hope that the tickets are reasonably priced.

Has anyone been to a FF or similar concert?

I've been to lots of video game concerts.  Some played a variety of game songs, like Video Games Live, while others focused on one game series, like Final Fantasy or Zelda.  I loved it when they recreated the opera scene from FF6 at one concert.  That was a dream come true!

The last time I went to Distant Worlds, they did the full opera scene from VI. It was one of the singlest greatest moments of my life, lol. I'm so excited for this year because they will have music from XV as well.

I've also been to a Zelda symphony performance which was just as amazing. I think I'll listen to my orchestrated game music at work today ;)

I hope you do get to go at some point! There is nothing like it.

I listen to a lot of music on my iPod but I always remember going to a classical concert in college and feeling like it was a much better experience. Live music is so much more powerful.

I agree, especially when it's symphony music. The atmosphere really sweeps you away with it all.

I attended Distant Worlds in March 2013, when it was in Omaha. I sprung for VIP tickets for my wife and myself, which meant I got to go backstage to a little after concert party with Nobuo Uematsu and Arnie Roth. It also happened to be Mr. Uematu's birthday (March 21). Mr. Uematsu autographed the front cover insert of my Final Fantasy IX, which is still in my collection to this day.

The year previous, I attented Distant Worlds when it was in St. Louis. That one was strictly regular seating as I didn't find out about it soon enough for backstage tickets.

A few years ago, my husband bought us ticketds for a chamber performance with Nobou Uematsu and Arnie Roth. There were only 150 people there, and it was all meet and greet. I had Nobou sign my FFVI piano sheet music book, my FFIV Piano Collections CD, and my arm...which I had tattood when I got home! It was only fitting, as the music means so much to me.

The next time I saw him was at a full Distant Worlds concert, regular sests. Tomorrow tickets go on sale for the upcoming show. I will see what I can get :)

I wish I had gone to Distant Worlds in Pittsburgh in 2015, which would have been close since I am currently in Maryland. Hitoshi Sakimoto was in attendance for that one. I wanted him to autograph Final Fantasy XII or Final Fantasy Tactics. I wouldn't have minded him autographing my Valkyria Chronicles CE, too, but that would obviously be out of place at a Final Fantasy concert even though he did the music for that game, too.
