BaD: Oh it's Tuesday...wait, DLC for Zelda??

I missed yesterday :( Monday has nothing nice to say about the world, anyway.

As for today, I got my Distant World tickets!

Let me say, however, that these tickets were way more expensive than they were a few years ago! I was fully planning on sitting on the ground level, but for $100 each? I opted for the less expensive balcony area, which will afford me with great views and perfect acoustics. Since this is the 30th anniversary performance, I'm really hoping to get a good mix of music from all of the games. Too bad I have to wait until September!

Also importantly today, did you see this announcement?

DLC from Nintendo?! It really is about time, and they have the perfect game in Zelda: BotW to test out the waters. I'm reading that the first bonus is silly, but the next two packs sound well worth the $20 price tag. Nicely spaced out over the year as well. This is the kind of thing I want to see more of from Nintendo!

I was filling out Square's FFXV survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JHJGC96) and there were some questions about DLC, mainly do you purchase it. I responded that I always purchase DLC for games that I enjoy. Why not? It's usually fairly priced and gives new life to something that I really had fun playing in the first place. Now granted, I fully expect DLCs to provide me with more than just outfits or weapons; I want extended gameplay or more maps for multiplayer games. I think that is something that is becoming common place now amongst larger titles. I suppose we should just plan that extra $20-$25 into the price of the game.

What do you guys think? Smart move for Nintendo?

Ummm ... I dunno. On the one hand, having an all new original story is definitely intriguing and the items sound useful (in part because they say they are in the description), but I could see people having the same problem they did when DLC first became more common place and saying "why wasn't this in the main game already?"

Cave of Trials challenge and new map features? Ok, I get it. But why would I pay for a hard mode?

DLC Pack 2 definitely looks the best out of these and the Expansion pack bonus isn't bad for a bonus, but public opinion on this could go either way.

Personally, the only DLC I ever bought was Arkham Knight Season Pass, and while I dug the costumes, Batmobiles, challenges, and extra story missions I got, part of me wishes I saved money and only bought the stuff I cared about. Oh well. In that case, I felt kinda bad for getting Arkham games for $5 and wanted to support Rocksteady, so I wasn't too bummed about it.

I typically avoid DLC unless it adds to the story though. I'm with you on not wanting to pay for costumes, though I could see myself being suckered into it. I did buy a Rocket League pack at some point, or maybe just the Delorean. But come on. It was the Delorean.

Long story short, my opinion on DLC depends on the nature of the DLC.

I know there is an argument to be made for "why wasn't this in the game" but at some point, the game just needs to be released. I like to know that developers are still paying attention to the game after the fact, and not just to fix their mistakes. I like the price point of DLC. If it gets higher, then I'll have some issues.

I pretty much agree. It's getting positive responses on here, I just know people can be petty.

hey I was just talking about this with the pixlbit guys. I don't know, the "original story" thing does seem pretty intriguing.  I don't know, I guess we'll see though.

Time will tell, but I'm happy to see Nintendo moving in this direction.

If I REALLY like Breath of the Wild, I may go for some DLC, but I don't know yet.  Gotta play the game first.

I can't imagine not liking it at this point. I'm so excited for the Switch that I'm sure any flaws in Zelda will quickly be forgiven.

Nintendo finally doing DLC. Boy that's like a decade behind the times. But I like it.

I just got Halo Wars 2 and I'll buy DLC that's story related. I don't care for the multiplayer maps like Doom had nothing but multiplayer maps so I didn't buy any DLC there.

When I was heavily into Call of Duty: Ghosts, we would live for the map pack expansions. I was completely terrible at that game. Pretty sure my friends only let me in their clan because they had too, lol.

I was actually liking the arena style battles in Borderlands today more than the open world stuff, for some reason. I usually don't like playing on fixed maps. I get too used to them and then I get bored.
