I Got Myself a Switch

When the Switch was first shown I was pretty underwhelmed. I knew I'd get one eventually, but from the launch lineup I just wasn't impressed. I already had Mario Kart 8, and Zelda BOTW on the Wii U, so as great as they were, they weren't exactly system sellers to me. So what made me want one? E3 is what made me want one now. Nintendo blew me away at last Junes E3 so I knew I really wanted a Switch. Even through there wasn't a huge lineup of must have games out, I knew there would be here soon enough and I knew the system would be tougher and tougher to find as the Christmas season quickly approached. My dad had agree to let me put the system on his Best Buy card for me and and I'd pay him back each month, so the trick now was to find one. Well within days I found one sitting on the shelf at a local Best Buy. Sadly it wasn't to be since my dad was back home in MA for the next week and a half. He looked for one out there for me, but no luck. Fortunately when he got back, we were tipped off by a BB worker that they would be getting some for the following Sundays sale. So in anticipation, I decided to buy a few games, and accessories to ready myself for my new Switch I was determined to get. Come Sunday morning we waited outside BB for them to open so I could rush in on my bum foot to grab one. Thankfully they not only had 6 of them, but they had them with the colored JoyCon's as well.

So, as you can see by the pics, I went a little crazy buying stuff for it. I also snagged a 128GB memory card not shown, a Zelda case, as well as digital versions of World Heroes Perfect, Snake Pass, and Blaster Master Zero. Other then that, my dad bought me a physical release of Splatoon 2 for my birthday which wasn't included in the pics.

So what are my impressions so far? So far I really enjoy it more then I expected. I do prefer playing in docked mode more then portable, but I do like the option. My main issue with it so far is the online set up is kind of a mess. It seems to be a step back over the Wii U. You can't send messages to anyone, friend codes, etc. I'm hoping Nintendo fixes this. I don't know how they expect anyone to pay for online if they don't. Its bad enough voice chat on the thing is a bad joke. Overall though, I'm very happy I own the system.

You are the only person I know so far who prefers it docked. Interesting.

Having the option for both is nice though

yay! I just got one too.  I like playing it handheld mostly, but playing Zelda on the big screen is pretty sweet though!

I don't know how they would top Zelda. The game is just too good.

I prefer Docked Mode too.

That's a lot of games to get right off. Cool.

Glad you got a Switch.  Surprisingly, right now I prefer playing games on my PS4, but that may change in time.

I've been getting a few more games here or there for Switch. I recently got Snake Pass when it went on sale, Blaster Master Zero due to Shantae/Shovel Knight being free DLC, I got Oceanhorn, Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, and Mighty Gunvolt Burst (Which is what Mighty No. 9 should have been!) I keep trying to tide myself over until Mario Odyssey comes out, but I keep beating all the games I get lol.
