Series Collecting

Ever get the urge to collect a single series and try to get every game in it? For sometime now I've had the urge to buy up every Madden game I can across all Platforms. Why Madden? I don't know actually. While I will occasionally play a football game and have some fun, I have little interest in them overall. I don't even like real football. For some odd reason though, I've just had an odd interest to buy them up. I have quite a collection of them so far and pretty much have just grabbed them when I saw them dirt cheap. I think the only one I've ever paid full price for was Madden 2001 (or was it 2002) on PS2. I'm not quite sure why, but at the time I had a really disposable income and no bills. Anyway, i'f I do go though with full on collection of the series I won't be paying over $10 for any of them.

Recently yet another series has caught my interest to collect. That series in Dragon Ball. Now I have seen some of the anime a long time ago, but never really got into it. I did like it and may try watching at some point in the future, but now its the games that are of interest to me. Like Madden I already have several DB games on different platforms. The difference with the DB games though is that I actually would pay over $10 for them.

Anyway, if people would like, I'll gather what I have of each series and post some pics.

I am collecting every mainline release of the Final Fantasy series. I’m only missing a couple US releases for PSP, and I’ve moved into the Japanese releases. I have complete copies of the first 6 Japanese releases.

Imports are great, but I stopped getting those with the Dreamcast and Saturn. Funny though, earlier this year I came into some money and went on a buying spree and 2 of the games I bought were The Last Gaurdian on PS4, and the Batman Arkham games on XBox One. When I was sorting my haul out I noticed Pegi ratings on both of them. From my understanding that is a European thing so I got myself 2 imports there. They work perfect so I didn't try returning them. It was also pretty funny I got them through different dealers sold through Amazon.

I do the Madden collecting too. I haven't bought the last two years but I will probably pick them up especially the older one when it drops to a couple of bucks. I think my oldest Madden is one of the early 90s Sega Genesis games.

I tend to do this with other sports games like NBA Jam, and NCAA Football, and the one non sports game I tend to look for is Jeopardy. I am 90% sure I have at least one copy for every console I own.

Like I said, I'm not all that into sports games, but I certainly have a lot of them due to the low cost. I used to love baseball games in up until the mid Genesis era though. I was also addicted to Lakers VS Celtics on Genesis. That game was just too much fun. Soccer games are also of interest to me despite limited experience. I played a lot of the first Soccer game on Genesis that Sega released as well as a ton of the first 2 Worldwide Soccer titles on Saturn. In the current XBox One/PS4 era I've also gotten into the FIFA series.

I don't really collect series like that, unless you count all console-based Uncharted games. I'd still have to buy Lost Legacy to complete that though. I probably will.

Lost Legacy is really good. I just beat it recently. I actually hated the Chloe character until that game.

I forget which Chloe people are talking about. I was about to say "Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of hers until I played Before the Strom."

I used to be SO into collecting series. I can't afford it now, but your choice of Madden is probably the cheapest series to go for. Any sports game actually would be good. They can be had for a dollar sometimes.

Cash is also a thing with me since I got on disability. I was one day a week at my job of 10 years but had to leave even that unfortunately. I still have a little income every month though, so the Madden titles would be much of an issue unless I bought them at full price which I refuse to do. I'm still not sure if I should, but if I did 1 or 2 of them a month may not be a bad start.

I occasionally buy two copies of a sports game if I think Mark and I would be into it. I usually get something out of the bargain bin for a couple bucks each. Sometimes it's a fun time.

Since I am a big rpg fan i collect a lot of the rpg series and i feel its one of the most expensive genres to collect. There's a lot I still need but it's mainly been the Suikoden, breath of fire, Grandia, wild arms, tales of... and more. I include side games as well in my collecting besides the main series. I only keep it to USA release though because its the only ones I can play and understand.
