Witchering Bad, or Smashing Bad?

So Matt Snee suggested that I should post some of the stuff that I usually share with him on Discord. Took me a few days, but I'm finally doing it.

WITCHERING

So for the past month or so I've been playing through the Witcher series. Enjoying it so far, and about 2 weeks ago I finally reached the third and final entry.

I'm not going to say much in regards to gameplay, or other mechanics. I think it is definitely an improvement over its predecessors. That should be a given for any game series I would say.

I do want to focus on its visuals. It's a series that goes from looking ugly due to its age, looks good for its middle age, and ends in a manner that it made me start taking screenshots of my playthrough. Playing it without the HUD, or at least a minimal HUD that fades when not needed, makes the experience that much better. It's that beautiful to look at, considering it came out about 4 years ago. Granted I'm playing it on PC, and have the hardware to help haha.

I am going to post my favorite screenshots once a day. Except weekends. Otherwise I will never get to finish the game haha.

SMASHING

Well I've also been playing Smash Bros Ultimate. Here and there, and entirely in single-player. I don't know how I fare in competition, but the CPU gives me a hard time as it is.

Spent a lot of time in Spirits mode, as it's addicting trying to get all the spirits. Got 9 left to go. Can't get them all just by playing Spirit Board/World, so now I'm focused on Classic mode. A few can be bought in the shop, and I think I have a few left to get from doing challenges. Cannot wait to be done with it haha. I had some tough times getting some of those legendary spirits. Many times I felt like smashing the controller.

Oh Classic mode. How I love, and hate you. So there's this challenge that requires you to get a 9.9 rating. You can't use a golden hammer, unfortunately. Suffice it to say I have a few 9.8 ratings, and hey maybe I will be lucky enough to get a 9.9 rating... So I was using Pit, and I had reached the last battle... with a 9.8! Nothing could go wrong. If I lose then I can use a golden ticket. The game will certainly give me that 0.1 rating left. NOPE! LOL (It's not funny at all. In hindsight it is, and frustrating). RAAAAGE! Lesson learned. Game does not give you more than a 9.8 if you use a golden ticket in the last battle. Did I mention I can't use the golden hammer to break this challenge?

I think the game sometimes favors you, and then sometimes it wrecks you like nothing you've ever seen. I don't know if it's some sort of rubberbanding, or the CPU just flops into its death. That fabled Pit run was a streak of luck. I got a 1.1 rating on one of the battles; a Perfect fight that ended as quickly as a battle that should have not ended so quickly. I didn't even know you could get more than a 1.0 rating per battle.

Anyway, all I have to say is that it's a shame the game has no Home-Run Contest, or Break the Targets mode. It's a great game though. Just as good as Melee... maybe, maybe not haha.

All of my screenshots so far are from the Velen area. It's incredible how big the game is, and that's just going to show that I still have a lot of beautiful screenshots to take.

I was shocked at how natural the outdoor environments look in Witcher 3. They got the random scatter of trees and shrubs just right.

Yup. All they would need to do for a future open-world game is to improve the weather effects i.e. wind, rain.
