First things first here. I was a bit disappointed with the announcement event after watching the whole thing last night. Too much emphasis on TV functionality and sports[both real and fantasy type!]. The TV stuff had no impact on me,as we don't even watch it in the man room. Netflix,Blu-Rays, and gaming is all that happens in there. Our cable box and SmartTV work just fine in our living room. And I am not too lazy to put my thumb to use on a remote. They are determined that we will all use Kinect functions for almost everything. And the voice thing as well. My first thought about that is accents and stoners. Both could cause difficulties for the system. With all the mumblers and people stoned out of their tree, voice commands could be tricky! Hands are much better, but we already use those, don't we? I like that the console is displayed horizontally. I have never liked using systems that are standing up. Too vulnerable to the cats, who love knocking things over in the house. I guess they added the bevel on the front so the thing does not completely resemble an old school VCR. The camera kind of creeps me out because it makes me think of Hal from "2001:A Space Odyssey". "Put down the controller,Wayde. You have played for 4 hours now. Don't you think you could use a bit of fresh air?" If the console talked I'd be really freaked out. The controller is not so bad. Pretty much the same, but we'll see how responsive it is. But the main letdown I had was in the game department. I don't give a crap about FIFA or Forza, but I know they have to pimp those two because they sell big globally. And of course,Call Of Duty:Ghosts is shoved in our faces for the same reason. I'm sure I will buy it,but that's not a big selling point for me. My only hope is that the original games,as in new franchises, will be spectacular. E3 is where we will learn more about them, hopefully. It was kinda cool, but I was just expecting a bit more. It just seemed so bland and focus group tested to me.

Well i was pretty harsh on the system yesterday but dammit i want a game console not a cable box with game capabilities i did see the Witcher 3 and a few more rpgs and strategy games that look really good but having to be connected at least once a day is crap like a freind said to me why are you complaining your on xbox live all the time anyway and my response was but i should have the option to not be if i choose and well im really going to have to watch this thing, i mean i dont want to jump ship since the 360 has been a really good system short of the red ring thing and i wonder how that fits into the new system is this history or are we going to get another ring of death on this unit lol only time will tell.

You have some fine points and concerns. I wonder about the same things. I know I'll have much time to think on this,as the systems will be very hard to find at Christmas. May be early spring before I get either one.

Here's the gist of what I got from it yesterday:

So you're telling me this has something to do with TV? What about sports, dammit!? Oh yeah...I see now. And what's this whole Call Of Doody thing about? Does the dog take a massive poop on my lawn?

All I gotta say is that Microsoft better be ready to blow our socks off at E3, which will be difficult because I will have my shoes of skepticism on and tied tight Tongue Out

I'm wearing flip flops,so I'm just a pushover. And a sucker for new consoles. I will wait a little bit to see if there are any bugs with the initial batch. E3 is going to be a Clash Of The Titans this year.

After watching/listening to most of the announcement, I think Microsoft is trying to hard to  be the all in one entertainment system. How about we concentrate on the gaming aspect and everything will fall into place.

As for the camera, my tin foil hat moment, but having a console always connected to the internet could lead to some bad things.

Rant, Rant, Rant.... Yes that is about it for me... LOL. They tripped over the controller cord with this one.

Ya know. When Xbox 360 first added connection to Netflix, Facebook, and Last.FM etc..., I was kinda thrilled at first. A couple of times I posted an achievement to Facebook, listened to some music on Last.FM, and watched a TV show on Netflix or a thing on YouTube while I ate lunch as a break to gaming. But since those first few weeks, I've not used any of that. I pretty much just start gaming and stay with that all day. So if this Xbox One can't be a dedicated game machine for me, then I'll have to stick with what I've got.

When it has enough good games on it that I want to play, then I might be more interested.  I love my 360 and PS3, but even I didn't get them right away.  Only when they had enough games I wanted.

I was wondering when someone would make the "Hal" reference from 2001, All it needs is a red contact lense.

and oddly I would name my console Hal if I did end up buying it. I just hope it don't become self aware and try to kill me and replace me in the family. *shudders*

Here's hoping E3 can fill us in on the game's department.
