What is SEGA Spectrum? Not getting my hopes up...

Heard about this today on a podcast. Something SEGA plans to unveil at E3. Everyone has been speculating as to what it truly is,but the general consensus is that it is NOT going to be a new console. That sort of disappoints me,because I really liked my Dreamcast back when it launched. I thought it was ahead of it's time for that era. My first game was Soul Calibur, and then I bought Sonic Adventure. Both of those games you can now download and play on modern consoles. Which made me remember why the Dreamcast kind of faded away for me eventually. For all of it's splendor, the games were being made for other systems. Like Resident Evil:Code Veronica, for example. I now have that one for PS2.

So what could it be? Has me very curious, but I am not gullible enough to be excited yet. I'm not jaded enough to call shenanigans on them at the moment. Hopefully it will be something that allows us to download a ton of SEGA classic games easily. That would be fairly cool and I would certainly be down with it. So at the very least I now have one more mystery that will be solved at E3 this year. Now for a couple of mildly disturbing videos of songs I listened to today!

Would make my year if it was. But I kind of doubt it. Will probably be something I can't use much.

I would go next gen for a Sega system. We will see at E3.

If it's a console, I'd have to set aside three days for straight ORGASMING (gross, I know, but necessary). I've been longing for Sega to get their shit together, not give a shit, and re-enter to console market.

It would be nice! SEGA could do something great, but it's a long shot.

Dream cast 2! It's a shame SEGA just don't have the money to do something like this but a budget console with lower spec and awesome games could do well this next Gen!

That's why I hope the Ouya is a success. To encourage more companies to do stuff like that.

i wonder if it's their version of steam/origin for PC use that involves sega titles both past and present. after all we were suppose to see PSO2 be released out here this spring....

You may be right. It just seems like an online service of some sort is what they have cooked up.

This seems most likely to me.

I would definitely say downloading service or something like it is more likely, I don't think a company planning a new console launch would sign a three-title exclusivity deal with a former rival regarding its mascot franchise if it were thinking of entering the console market again so soon. Or maybe that was a test? One can dream, I suppose.

I was surprised by how much I liked "Up in the Air," given how boring I usually find 30 Seconds to Mars. I mean they were huge at my high school, even heard girls comparing Leto to Jesus, and I'm not sure they were doing that ironically ... yet, I never saw the big deal, but loved this song. Video is sleek too, really matches the quality. I didn't find it disturbing, maybe a bit random, but well shot.

Rammstein I just thought was a bit weird, but compared to what I've heard my older brother describe their live sets as, that was nothing. At least the girl was attractive, which is a them I appreciate being carried through both these videos.

I know,it's wishful thinking on my part. And a bit of Dreamcast nostalgia. As for 30 Seconds To Mars, they kind of grew on me after their last album. They tend to get written off by many because Jared Leto is seen as this pretty boy actor. But I saw them live and was really impressed. Still don't understand the intensity of their fan's devotion. May be because at their shows the crowd literally becomes part of the whole thing. Leto goes out into the crowd, and they bring fans onstage. It creates a bond I guess. Rammstein is a band I got into thru playing Guitar Hero with my son. I have a very deep voice and could sing Du Hast very well. Got high scores on it even though I don't speak German!

Any sort of way to get copies of all of the sega saturn games would be amazing.  Those are the games that I wish to have played the most.

I have seriously considered getting a Saturn. Never played one but had seen it in action at Best Buy once. Like the games they put out for it. Nice cases they had for them too.

What if it is like that Neo Geo anniversary console thing.  A new console that plays all of their old games...  I would buy that instantly.

In a heartbeat is how fast wow would buy one.

A new console from SEGA would be neat, especially since I really liked the Dreamcast.  But I doubt it's that, too.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

My hopes are usually dashed like a sailboat made from toothpicks on a rocky shore. But certainly when it comes to Sega! I do miss my Dreamcast at times.
