Hope you all have a good one today. Even though I'm out here working today I will still get to see some fireworks. There's a hill I can go to that has an awesome view of multiple displays across Tulsa, including the big one they used to call "Boom River" near downtown. This is a day I am thankful I live in this great country. For all our flaws and corrupt business leaders and politicians,it's still the best place on earth. It takes perspective and a lot of travel before you realize the truth to that. I've lived in Europe when I was a kid,and travelled Asia extensively when I was in the Navy. Went to some really cool places and met fine folks there. They loved their countries with good reason,it was home for them. After a few months at sea I really started to miss the US and American stuff. You never know how important it is til you are deprived of it. I only wish the very young in this country felt that way. They take so much for granted it seems. We are all so lucky to have been born here[or moved here]and today is the day to celebrate it.

I agree with you whole-heartedly, Wayde. I think we really don't appreciate it until we've lived elsewhere. I lived in Norway, where did you live in Europe?

And a big thanks go out to you, who also have to work so that others may play today.

When I was really young we lived in London for a year. Then in Amsterdam for about 6 months. I only remember bits and pieces, but I remember trips we took up into Scotland several times. Went to a few castles and all the way up to the Orkneys at one point. I don't mind working so much today. Some of the nursing homes are having cookouts and they give me some BBQ to go.

yeah America is awesome.  People who take it for granted are as bad as though who are arrogant about it -- we're lucky to have been born here, but it doesn't make us special.  Just lucky.

I'm not up to much, but my brother might come over. We're cooking on the grill though, yay!  Kielbasa cause we're polish!

That sounds rather tasty. I think this 4th is extra special due to the fact ignorant politicians are actively trying to take freedoms from women. But they are getting a fight, which is truly American to the core.

I wish we were grilling but I don't think that's in the cards. My in-laws are handling the food. Still, I'm excited about the day Laughing

It's going by very fast, but I'm making some money[always cool!] at the same time. Eating good along the way as well.

Well, I've never lived anyone else, but I do realize I'm lucky to be here!

Have a good day at work!

If I was not at work I'd be doing exactly the same thing now. I figured you'd be someone who understands how important today is. While I do complain about things I think go against what America is supposed to be about[which is a lot these days] I realize that as nations go,we are still pretty young. Perhaps it's just "growing pains" we are having right now.

amen gamer. it's why my passport is now locked up despite the travel stamps I put into it. The world scared me. I'm glad I live in the old Ol' US of A. And thank you for serving in our armed forces. I couldn't do that even if I tried.
