My Nintendo E3 Wishes and Predictions

It's that time of the year again...

I've always loved E3, it's the gamers equivient of christmas in it's own way and while it isn't what it used to be, it's always exciting to see the new game reveals. I normally don't care for what Sony or Microsoft have to show because I usually get whatever they show when it's on sale or something. In fact, the only game I was even remotely interested to get a PS4 has been delayed till 2015 and that's good for me so I wont need a PS4 till early next year.

http://www.sticktwiddlers.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Batman-Arkham-Knight-11.jpg

My reaction to that news was this basically

The only games I am excited to see on the PS4 would probably be Uncharted 4, Batman Arkham Knight which is my most anticipated PS4 game, Fallout 4 and on the XBox One would probably be an actual platforming game by Rare, like Banjo 4 or a real Banjo Kazooie 3 if you guys don't count Nut's and Bolt's.

But for me, the focus of E3 has always been about Nintendo. I've always loved Nintendo, I don't know why but I just love their games, to me they are the Disney/Pixar of gaming. Sure they might make a few bad decisions but when they make good games, they make em' pretty damn well. And thanks for Batman getting delayed, all my focus will be on the Wii U. The 3DS is doing fine and am glad it is, there is just so many great games for it right now and that library is going to get even bigger and better.

The main focus is going to be on the Wii U, I mean it's been out for almost 2 years now and the thing isn't selling as well as it should. Nintendo has one last chance at this E3 to show people why they need a reason to own the thing. Heck when they announced it I didn't need a reason not to own it, it was new Nintendo hardware, there will be Nintendo games for it, to me that reason alone was enough for me.

I'm also sure alot of people complained about Nintendo doing a digital event rather than a full blown presentation. I do miss the old format but tell me about it, would you miss Reggie talking about his charts or pointless graphs on sales? There is none of that corporate sales bs with the digital format and that digital format provides us with just what we want: news on upcoming games, new announcements and so forth. To alot of people that was a sign of Nintendo throwing in the towel but what they don't know is that this is a smart move by Nintendo because like Iwata said they are bringing the Nintendo Direct directly to you and that's what they are doing, giving us news on the games. Speaking of Iwata, he even gave me my pass for the hype train with my name:

                                              Hype Train

                                                               My Body is Ready...yeah.

I'm really hyped for this years E3 because this years focus isn't going to be about the hardware, but only about the games. Plus if those leaked lists of games is to be believed, then I'm at full hype mode right now. I will be talking about predictions and wishes in this blog, I'll get announced games out of the way because they are going to show them anyway and I'll move to predictions and wishes. So all aboard the hype train!

Predictions:

Sonic Boom: The new Sonic game made by guys who used to work for Naughty Dog, how is that not awesome? It's exclusive to the Wii U and the 3DS and it's shaping up to be very good from the most reccent trailer/video. We'll most likely see more info at E3.

Yarn Yoshi: This one has been really absent lately and we only saw a bit of it in a Nintendo Direct back in early 2013. It's being made by the team that made the pretty darn good Kirby's Epic Yarn. It's using a yarn like plush asthetic to it and it looks really neat. We may see some info on it.

SMT x Fire Emblem: Another game thrown out of the left field was this unexpected game. No one really expected this crossover. Heck I don't know much about the SMT games, the only one I have is Strange Journey and I still haven't beaten it yet. But that doesn't mean I'm not excited for it. This one has been a mystery for a while so hopefully we see more on it.

Hyrule Warriors: This was a big surprise when Nintendo revealed it last year. It was different and looked really interesting and fun, I can't wait for that too. We'll probably see a release date and a price but hopefully we get the version Japan is getting which comes with alot of goodies inside a treasure chest box.

Bayonetta 2: This game has already been announced a while back and we still don't have a release date for it just yet, but no doubt we'll see more info and a date and price. Still need to try the first one before diving into 2.

X: One of the games I'm hyped about the most is Monolith Soft's X or Xenogears or whatever the name was on that list. I haven't beaten Xenoblade yet. I know I'm a terrible person but I'll get to that hopefully this month. It seems to be a sequel or successor to Xenoblade and it looks gorgeous. But I'm really excited for the transforming mechs. As a huge fan of Transformers, that has me really excited. Hopefully we see a release date and maybe they wont have limited copies this time around.

Zelda Wii U. Shard of Nightmare: Nintedno and Aonuma said themselves that Zelda would be showing up at E3 this year but there is not much to say about it. There's alot of mystery surrounding this one as it is said to be Nintendo's biggest project to date and it has to be, it's going to be the biggest Zelda game to date. Plus with the Wii U's power it's probably going to look really amazing, but please just no motion controls. We probably wont see it out till 2015 and I don't mind, I want this to be the best Zelda game ever made, I want them to make me get hyped and excited like they did for Twilight Princess.

Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS: The Wii U version of this game is coming out by the end of the year and I'm okay with that. ut this E3 it gives Nintendo some time to squeeze in some final news and character reveals for the game. They will most likely announce the final roster of characters for the game since both the 3DS and Wii U versions will share the same roster. So it would make sense while giving Nintendo enough months to announce stages and whatnot for the Wii U version. Also they are probably saving some character reveals to coincide with game announcements. Think about it, when they announce a new character, it's because they reccently had a game so it would be a logical move.

Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: Everyone has been wanting these games to happen since forever, it wasn't the greatest region but I understand why everyone wants them. I started with Pokemon Blue and Yellow so I'm a Geewunner or whatever but alot of people's first game was Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire and that's it, it's all about the nostalgia and the memories of that being the first game they ever tried. And I've always said that a game that would benefit from a remake was Ruby and Sapphire with the 3DS technology. That region was made for the 3DS, with all the weather effects and the climatic battle of Groudon vs. Kyogre would look amazing in 3D. Nintendo really never teases Pokemon games at E3 since Pokemon is usually it's own thing and has it's own event but having an announcement wouldn't hurt and I would welcome it.

Alright so now that we have the obvious written down, it's time for some wishes and these will be OUTRAGEOUS!

Wishes:

        https://d1vr6n66ssr06c.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/0019.jpg

Dragon Quest X for the west: I loved Dragon Quest IX, it's probably in my top 10 DS games if I had such a list. It's a great game, I'd love to see DQIX come over here, I wouldn't mind paying a monthly fee for it.

       http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/814/814436/metroid-prime-3-corruption-20070822001113108.jpg

New Metroid: Everyone wants a new Metroid, I want a new Metroid game too and it's been long since a brand new one. I would love to see a new one but the question is what kind of Metroid should it be? Should they amke a Metroid Prime 4? Or go old school and make a 2D one? Or should they make a hybrid 3rd person Metroid with all the exploration of the Prime games with a first person mode thrown in for stuff like scanning? I would love to see a new Metroid game, like a 3rd person one with scanning left to a first-person perspective with huge enviroments to explore. I also want to see the Gunship to play a bigger role other than weapon refills and saving. I loved how the gunship played a bigger role in Metroid Prime 3, it's one of the reasons why it's my favorite of the Trilogy. It would be cool if they allowed you to pilot it between planets, like let's say piloting it through an asteroid field outside a planet's atmosphere or shooting down bad guys to get to a new planet, and having remote access to it like you did in Prime 3. That would be neat.

And how about a multiplayer mode? I know you might think how will a multiplayer mode work? Well it could work like the MP from Metroid Prime 2 but better. Imagine you are a team of bounty hunters, let's just say everyone is Samus but each Samus is a different one like a different suit and with those suits come with especific skill sets and weapons. Like a custom loadout and you team up to take on hoards of enemies in waves from the Metroid games, and every 10 waves or so you fight a boss. Wouldn't that be cool? You'd ave to work together and stuff. And if you want competitive there could be a hunters versus pirates mode where you can be either Samus or the Galactic Space Federation against the Space Pirates, each team will be human players and you can customize weapons and looks and would have maps from past Metroid games. That would be a very neat Multiplayer mode.

                             http://www.gamexplain.com/ckfinder/userfiles/images/starfox2.jpg

New Star Fox: Everyone has been wanting a new Star Fox game in a long time and the last new game we got was Command. But the question is will people actually buy it if Nintendo does release a new one? Star Fox is a well known game but it's nothing mainstream or well known like Mario or Zelda. But people will notice it if they do some really cool things with it. You will have your standard Arwing missions but with different branching paths but what if you can use anyone else than Fox? Like Falco? And that mission you knew so well with Fox can be different and the story would change. There would be Landmaster missions and Blue Marine missions and why not expand the on-foot missions? The idea was neat in Assault but not executed well. Why not some stealth missions? Or hijack an enemy craft on foot. There's alot of possibilites for that. Now let's talk about a multiplayer mode because thi one just writes itself.

One of the things I liked the most about Starfox Assault was the multiplayer mode, it was fun and addicting. If they tried that and applied it for an online mutiplayer mode then it would be really nice. It will need some few tweaks like maybe having the Cornerian Army against Andross' forces in team deathmatch stlye or any of the characters from the Star Fox franchise. And let's not stop there, have a cop-op mode where you can go into the main mode and you and 3 other people can play the main missions and everyone can be either Fox, Falco, Slippy, or Peppy or Krystal if they are moving the series forward.

         http://www.zeldainformer.com/2011/08/01/wiiu_fzero.jpg

New F-Zero: F-Zero is the best futuristic racer ever and if you say no then I don't want to hear it. It's been a decade since the last F-Zero game, that game was GP Legend and that game was based on the anime of the same name that was cancelled so not many people know about it. We haven't had a home console version since 2003 so it's been a while. Why haven't we gotten a new one is strange. The fact that it's missing from the Wii U is baffling. F-Zero is probably the most hardcore series from Nintendo and that is one game that can push the Wii U to it's limits, F-Zero GX looked amazing, even today and it still plays just as good. If they take the gamepaly from GX and the music from X then they have a winning combination there. Now add a track editor, a create a pilot mode, a machine editor, and an emblem editor and you'd have an awesome game.

Now let's talk online because here is where it get's interesting. The online will most likely consist of 30 players, not sure if it'll lag but they can make it work. Imagine it at 1080p at 60 fps? That would be an amazing feat if doesn't lag onine. Now a mode I always wanted was a story mode of sorts, there was one in GX but it's brutally hard. Why not a story mode that takes you on one of Captain Falcon's bounty hunting missions? And what if you could use him? Outside the Blue Falcon? That would be cool. Alot of the characters from F-Zero have pretty interesting backstories so maybe having a bit of a story mode would be neat.

                                     http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/_ui/images/wii/kirbydreamland/maboroshi02.jpg

3D Kirby Game: Besides a Kirby rpg or a Kirby fps, Nintendo or HAL Laboratory hasn't attempted a 3D Kirby game. They were working on one but it got cancelled. Why not revive that concept? One of the problems with that is Kirby's continuous flight but for the sake of not breaking the game, let's say he's affected by the gravity of a new world or something that the villain does to Kirby makes his flight limited? It gives them an excuse to hinder Kirby's flight for a bit while not breaking the game. It would be akin to a 3D Mario game I guess but what if you could ride an Air Ride machine to reach a far away area? It gives them a reason to add them since Kirby can't fly too much, plus add an Air Ride mode for online like City Trial. It could be 2 games in one.

                               http://www.gaminggenerations.com/store/images/images_extra/dk642.jpg

3D Donkey Kong Game: I know you're all thinking, wasn't Donkey Kong 64 enough? Well I have a certain history with that game and I'll talk about it at some point. But rather than making it a banana/collector simulator why not turn it into a proper 3D game like a 3D Mario game? One of the producers or guys who worked on 3D World said he would love to make a 3D Donkey Kong game so why not? As long as they don't go all Rare on the collectibles I'm fine with that.

New IP by Retro Studios: Self explanatory. Before the Metroid Prime games, Retro was working on some original games beforeMiyamoto tea tabled them in favor of a new Metroid game. Maybe it's about time they did their own thing with a game all to their own. Or revive one of the games that got the ax.

Miyamoto's New IP: Miyamoto has been working on a new project for quite some time now and you have to wonder what the hell is he working on. But here is my theory, the game he is working on could be in fact Project S.T.E.A.M. Think about it. Miyamoto has expressed that he would like to work on a first person shooter and if you think about it, it makes sense. Here is what the S.T.E.A.M. in Project S.T.E.A.M. stands for:  Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace. Some have said it could be the mystery project Retro is working on, I think it's Miyamoto's New IP but whatever it is, it sounds interesting and shooty.

Mario and Sonic Platfomer Crossover: I've always wanted this game to happen, I mean this is the one game that we thought it would never happen. But we have the Mario and Sonic games and Sonic is in Smash Bros so we have at least gotten close to that. It's always been a dream of mine to see this happen since I was a kid. Mario in Sonic's World and Sonic in Mario's world, if done right this can infact be the crossover game of crossover games. It would be great if done right. Just make it happen already.

           http://newbreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Super-Mario-Galaxy-2-Screenshot-Yoshi-bags-a-star.jpg

Super Mario Galaxy 3: There's a rumor going on that Nintendo will show the next 3D Mario game and there's been talks that Miyamoto and Nintendo want to see Super Mario Galaxy 3. I agree with that 1000% I fucking love the Galaxy games, they are my games of the Generation. I loved everything about them, they are incredibly amazing, heck I wouldn't mind if they re-released the first 2 Galaxy games in HD, I'd still buy them. But having SMG3 would be incredible, thinking about all the things they could do on the Wii U has me excited.

                            http://www.slashgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/slashgear_pokemon_nxt_mmo_4.jpg

Pokemon MMO: This one is one that will never happen. I can see why since Pokemon has always been a portable game and it's pretty social so having it home eliminates the purpose of it being portable, but it would make it more social. It could have all the regions we have so far and allow you to choose a region you would want to be from so it would serve as your starting point. Plus they can just add an expansion for a new region so there wouldn't need to be new games every 3-4 years, but let's be honest, they wouldn't do that. From there you can work your way through the gyms and challenge the Pokemon League. After that, you can move to the next region and so on. You have the ability to fully customise your trainer however you want and the world would be huge. You could see the wild pokemon running on the grass, the Zubats in the caves, and the water pokemon surfing on the water, you can even see the pokemon you're surfing on.

You could even explore for legendary Pokemon but maybe you can make them uncatchable or something since this is an mmo and if the anime is to be believed, it's one legendary pokemon per region or only one legendary pokemon in the world. Obviously there's only one Mewtwo and one Arceus, but maybe more than one Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno. Plus you can battle worldwide with other trainers or join their game. Pokemon X and Y us the closet we've gotten to an mmo with all the social functions, let's see them step it up a notch.

Captain Falcon as a playable Fighter in Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS: Yeah I said it, it may seem stupid to put this so high on my list but I just want to see Captain Falcon in Smash Bros. That's all.

So what are your E3 Wishes and Predictions? Did I miss anything? Thanks for reading and later.

I know you mentioned Dragon Quest IX, but I'd like to see a new one - I guess that would be XI - on 3DS or Wii-U. I would be really excited for that.

I'm still bitter that for the second year in a row, I haven't been able to get into E3 even though I've never had any problems getting in since 1997.  But yeah, most of the stuff I'm looking forward to is from Nintendo.  I wish the other console makers would put out games that appeal to me as well, I hate being so one-sided.  But I go where the games I like are.  Maybe after E3 is over with, I'll write a blog about my favorite E3 news stories.  You might be interested in reading the blog I have up right now, though.

I agree with a new Metroid, Star Fox and F-Zero. I also want a new IP from Nintendo and an unnexpected anouncement (like Half-Life 3).

yeah I'm waiting for DQ 11 too... I gave up on X.  Stupid Square.

I hope they show a new Zelda.  That would make the show for me.

I've honestly given up hope for a new F-Zero or Star Fox that's actually in the vein of those series' classic games, but I'm looking forward to seeing this new Zelda

I have no issue with a new Metroid game played from the first person perspective.  I would just prefer if it was not a Prime game, or something shoehorned between the main numbered games in the series.  how about something set after Fusion.

I'm still wondering why DQX still hasn't been released over here, does Square-Enix just not want my money? Same goes for their 3DS port of DQVII, oh well.
