Semi BAD Blog - Star Fox 64 3D or Kid Icarus: Uprising?

After Nintendo annoucened that it was shutting down their Club Nintendo Rewards system; they decided to actually put out a decent amount of quality games. However there are only two game that I'm really interested in as named in the title of this blog. Lately, I've been wanting to play Star Fox 64 again but everytime I would go into a store, I would keep forgetting to pick it up. As the retail version is probably cheaper than what it is right now on the E-Shop.

Then there is Kid Icarus: Uprising which everyone says "that is a great game............with really awkward controls and for some reason doesn't ultilize the circle pad pro is useful way". By some of the footage that I've watched, it looks fun especially those flying parts. But when I'm at work, I would like to play my 3DS for extended periods of time especially when there is some down time. I already find playing some 3DS games really uncomfortable, even on the 3DS XL (why did Nintendo put the gas button on the a button in Mario Kart 7, cramps my thumb after a few races). Plus I'll be getting the "New" 3DS next Friday and I'll be need some new games to play. So what is your suggestion, based on experiences with both games on the 3DS.

See, the Blog a day stuff is hard. I've been work 14 hour days this past week and I'm just sore/tired. There was chance at one point that I could have done 21 days instead of my usual seven but that idea has been squashed. Anyway I would have missed out on the New 3DS release, so fine by me.

I love Star Fox 64, but never played either of these games. So I say SF643D, but keep in mind that's based on my bias for Star Fox 64 and complete lack of experience with Kid Icarus.

Both are really good so I can't help you other than telling you this: Starfox 64 3D is a really good remake, everything from the original is intact, except they redid the graphics and the voice-overs are the same with the same actors, but the sound quality is better. It has 3 modes, 3DS mode which uses a combination of gyroscope controls and normal ones. Original mode which is the same as the original with no motion controls. And Expert mode which is also the same. I'd say give it a go if you want a familiar game with a new coat of paint.

With Kid Icarus: Uprising, the game is great but the controls get some getting used to. The game is also packed with content, and as with every Masahiro Sakurai game, the game has a challenge panel like in Smash. It also has this feature that allows you to make the game harder for later challenges. It also has a weapon crafting system to make new weapons. If you want to see something new, then go for this one. The only thing you'll be missing out on the retail version are AR Cards for the game, and this plastic stand so you wont get tired while playing.

It really depends on you which you want.

I love Star Fox 64, it's a great game, but I haven't played the new Kid Icarus.  I will say that I remember Star Fox being a kind of short game, and maybe Icarus has more play, but I also heard the controls for Kid Icarus can be rough.

I hated the controls in Kid Icarus: Uprising, so Star Fox 64 is a better choice, I think.
