Forgive me for I missed yesterday due to feeling like utter garbage...hooray 24 hour flu! I'll write 2 blogs today so that way it stll counts right? Yeah sure it does! Anyways, I love....absolutely love Castlevania. It's a series I've grown fond memories of. I remember back when I had a Super Nintendo. Man I'll tell you Super Castlevania was amazing.  I've played a lot from the series, so when it was announced that a Castlevania fighting game was being released exclusively for the Nintendo Wii....I was beyond excited. However, I was so wrong.

So the plot follows the character Galamoth who has an idea to send the Time Reaper, from 10,000 years in the future, into the past to destroy his rival Dracula and change history. A man named Aeon discovers this and pulls together champions from different eras of history into a time rift, in order to find a chosen one capable of destroying Galamoth's servant, the Time Reaper.

However, In the awful story mode, the characters you face off against spout painful, random nonsense. It's utterly boring as you go from fight to fight in lifeless repetitive compat. There's not much positive this game has going for it save for the rocking soundtrack and music. There are  too many design ideas that are neither well planned or well executed. There are dull arenas and limited enemy monsters.

There is a crippling lack of character balance. Not even its graphics are what they should be. Its a very poor game on every aspect. I even remember attempting to play this onlne, but a functioning online system wasn’t enough to get over the broken, unresponsive, and unentertaining fighting mechanics of the game.  It either comes as too simple in easier settings or you'll find yourself flailing like a jackass in harder difficulties.

The problem with this game is that it doesn't satisfy...not as a Castlevania game for sure and certainly not as a fighting game. It's got far too many ideas that fall flat. What could have been awesome certainly wasn't.

Never ever heard of a Castlevania fighting game before.  Sounds like it could be a cool concept.  Too bad the game sucks.

Ditto this.

And that Dabolik game looks like that old Pamela Anderson show Barbed Wire in cel-shaded form.

Also, BaD is technically only weekdays, so don't feel too ... bad.

Yeah it wasn't well received by anybody. Certainly it could have been handled better. And trust me I don't feel bad anymore. I'm over my flu!

I remember when the game first came out. I would have a bought it if I hadn't found out it was a fighting game.  Luckily I didn't.

I thought it could have worked as a way to shake up the formula. Unfortunately, it fails as a fighting game.

I'm not really a big Castlevania fan, but I do have a favorite game in the series.  And it never even came to the US (well, the Game Boy one did).  It's Kid Dracula.  It's a silly spinoff and is very cartoony and is kind of like the Parodius of the Castlevania series.  I wish Konami would revive Kid Dracula, but Konami hasn't done anything interesting lately.  I haven't really been pleased with them since they killed off Hudson Soft anyway.

I remember Kid Dracula! I remember they edited out stuff from the game boy version because the ghost looked like a kkk member and there was a statue of liberty boss. Konami only has Kojima and I hope to god he leaves so he can stop messing with my favorite series!

Lots of these games you've reviewed have provocative titles or interesting cover art. Just the type of stuff to trigger an impulse buy. But oh the pain at the realization of the brown sludge within.
