PSA: Nintendo Direct Tomorrow Morning

Posted on 04/17/2013 at 11:03 AM | Filed Under News

Did they name the system it will be for?  ALTTP is my favorite zelda, and I would love to play a sequel to it on my Wii U.But I don't have a 3DS and not sure if I want to buy one (well of course I want one, but my recently bought vita already has a couple dozen games waiting in the backlog-mostly PS1 games that I never got around playing back in the day).

A Jinx to the Past

I had serious issues getting any NES games to play towards the end.  The blowing method would no longer work, but I could sometimes get games to work by wedging a wooden block in the slot so that it mashed the game down as far as it would go. My SNES, N64, gamecube, and Wii all worked well up until the moment I unplugged them for the last time.  My PSX and PS2 both quit reading games after several years.

I'm currently on my 2nd playstation 3.  My day 1 $600 one lasted a few years but eventually saw the blinking light of death.  The hard drive of the one I currently own started dying after a little over a year and I had to replace it, but I can't really say if that's playstations fault or not.

In the two or so weeks that I played my Wii U I was scared I was going to kill it with the amount of times I had to unplug it to shut it off.  Hopefully by the time they actually come out with another game I want to play (the thing has already collected alot of dust) they'll have that problem fixed.

Off Beat Thursday! Just something to do!

I've been meaning to listen to some Kaki King for awhile now but I've kind of forgotten to. Glad you posted the video.  I can't watch it now, but plan to later.  I saw her on tour with one of my favorite musicians/bands, the Mountain Goats, several years ago and liked what I saw and heard.  They also did an EP together that I enjoy, but I never got around to listening to her solo stuff.

Dark Souls II game play video!

I second this comment, although I can't watch the video right now.  I loved the first game.

So who's picking up Soul Hackers next week?

I would if I could.  I've only recently gotten into the Persona games (and RPGs in general) due to the PSN and the PS3 and Vita.  For several reasons (mostly the time it takes to complete them) I've mostly avoided RPGs up until a couple years.  I've recently gotten the itch to play them, and have been downloading and playing a bunch of classics, but sadly I sitll haven't played a "real" SMT game.

Since my PS2 broke long ago I have no means of playing the SMT games, although I've been really wanting to try them out.  Maybe one day I'll get a 3DS, but my backlog is already big enough that I'm trying to avoid getting any new system anytime soon.

I also see that you're a Bad Religion fan.  I used to love them long ago (damn, I just looked up the years their albums came out...I'm getting old).  I haven't really listened to much since Stranger Than Fiction.  I thought the Grey Race was decent and No Substance had a few good songs, but for whatever reason those albums kind of turned me off as a big fan.  I can't really say why they turned me off because I haven't listened to those two albums in a long time, but I still listen to and enjoy their older albums every now and then.

What's your opinion of their last few albums?  I've actually kind of meant to listen to them for awhile now, but haven't gotten around to it.  I'm kind of scared that I won't like them.

Wagon Wheel is (mostly, see below) by Old Crow Medicine Show.  It's not a person but a band,  with kind of a modern bluegrass/alt-country sound.  I like alot of their stuff, but this song in particular is great.  I think it helps that it mentions the city where I live-Raleigh, NC!

I didn't know this until I just read on Wikipedia while making sure that I was correct about OCMS writing it, but it was orginally "sketched" by Bob Dylan, but apparantly he just did the chorus and OCMS picked it up and wrote a full song around it.

Gaming On A [really!]Big Screen.

Cool.  I would like to play a game on a huge screen too.  Although I think it might make it way too difficult.  So that I am not always hogging the tv with my gaming, I often move my playstation between my living room (that has a 52" ) and my spair room/man-cave (that has a 40", I think).  I often find that with certain games, especially ones with alot going on, that the smaller screen is easier to play on. I can't imagine what it would be like to play on an imax, or the side of a freakin' building!

But pong and snake would be awesome to play on it. I used to play snake in our computer lab in high school (or was it in middle school? damn my memory!).

I enjoyed this game.  The atmosphere was amazing.  Halloween was my favorite holiday as a kid.  The dressing up, the yard decorations, the frights, the walking around at night and getting candy...everything about it just seemed magical.  Now as a jaded adult it's not very often that I get to feel that way.  This game brought it back for me, if just for a short time.

My only complaint about the game is how simple the fighting system was.  There really wasn't any strategy other than to not miss the button presses.  However, the fighting wasn't really the point of the game, at least in my opinion.  It did everything else right.

R.I.P. Lucas Arts....I'll miss you.

I agree with everything in the blog (well, except I don't know what the 80s music/Glee thing is).  This makes me sad.  I used to buy practically everything with the Lucasarts logo-literally every single one of their old adventure games, in addition to X-Wing, Tie Fighter, Afterlife, Rogue Squadron, Shadows of the Empire, Dark Forces, etc.  Their output hasn't been nearly as high quality lately, but I was still looking forward to SW 1313.
