Little dark for my tastes, meaning visually, not necessarily content-wise; guess it earns its name. But it is a good fantasy setting for a game. The dragon at the very end looked cool.

My favorite part was the balnk, open-mouthed expression on the interviewer's face between clips. That was amusing to me for some reason.

The interviewer was open-mouthed because he realized that he has to beat the game to keep his job. Game looks freakin' hard as hell. Monsters break through walls? "We want players to always feel nervous". Surprised

This game better not turn out to be cheap. That is my biggest concern with the game. That and the apparent extra narrative focus. Dark Souls is one of the few mainstream titles that only wants to be a game, and I hope it stays like that.

I still want to play the first one. Damn you Backlog!

You can probably find them on sale by now.

The interviewer is Marty Sliva who was at 1UP with Jeremy before everything went down and they moved to IGN. Marty is a big fan of Dark Souls so I bet he was really pleased he got the chance to interview them and see the game up close.

This is one of my most anticipated games. Dark Souls has my favorite third person sword and sorcery style combat in the industry, and it's probably my favorite RPG I have. The combat is really slick and fun. Dark Souls 2 looks it'll be every bit as fun as the first game but more refined and with some new mechanical features and systems likely built in. The engine looks like it's performing well in this demo. Dark Souls had a lot of framerate issues in some areas, I hope DSII will be more polished and have better performance on the technical side.

The demo looks really slick so I wonder when the game is coming out, they seem to not only be on the right track but based on their demo things appear to be going really well over there. I hope the full game is shaping up as nicely, I'm really excited for it.

The game looks amazing from the demo. The Souls games have always lacked a sort of puzzle element to gameplay which they've seem to have added here with those "keys" that change the environments. They also mentioned areas with no enemies, but just atmosphere. Interesting...I've always loved the atmosphere of these games.

Those keys look cool and I'd like to see them create environment puzzles. The combat itself has always been a puzzle and that's one of the reasons I've always loved it. You have to have patience and be observant in order to survive in Dark Souls. All the combat is animation based and AI programming is consistent so that is distances itself from hack&slash games. You see new enemies, you study their attacks, you adapt accordingly. Attack at the right time, run, block, roll, strafe, backstab, arrows, firebombs, everything has to be calculated and you can't hack&slash your way through dungeons if you want to survive. If you die you just use it as part of the learning process and you fight to go collect your souls where you died and you learn from mistakes. The combat puzzles are a lot of fun in Dark Souls and the smallest battles can make you feel like a million bucks when you win, especially early on in the game like around Undead Burg when your low-level and just learning the ropes of the game.

By puzzle I meant environmental puzzles. You are mostly moving forward, or pushing forward with force in these games. Now they've added another element with keys to learn.

Sorry, I got distracted and started talking about all the combat. The environmental puzzle ideas and keys you were talking about are really cool. It'll be great to do some environmental puzzles and have more elements and interesting things do in the levels with variety.

You are right about the puzzle factor in figuring out enemy patterns and such. But these keys are interesting. It somewhat reminds me of zelda or tomb raider game. Unexpected and kind of neat.

This was already the only game on my Day-One-Purchase list, but this video sealed the deal.  More of the same?  Please take my money.

Love the addition of torches, as well; the choice between having light and having a shield/double-handing will definitely ratchet up the tension, much like Doom 3...

Those torches. It's funny how now they went and borrowed elements from Dragons Dogma. It's all about torches in that game.

I second this comment, although I can't watch the video right now.  I loved the first game.

I look forward to playing this more than purchasing a new console this year.

I wish they would stop spoiling the game. Playing through them and discovering areas on my own was part of the joy.

i'm sure there's tons more to discover.  Don't watch the videos.  I usually don't, but this time I did.

This looks... unnnnnghhh.

However, while I'm dying for this, I simultaneously don't want to play it. The first game was so stressful and dark and engrossing, it's almost an environment I don't want to go into again so soon (I just finished the first one a few weeks back). That being said, there's no damn way I'm NOT going to play this the day it comes out.

In the meantime... Demon's Souls.
