Arcade sports games are the best. I've never been one to play Madden or Fifa because realistic can be boring. Mario sports games on the other hand are a lot of fun. And I really enjoyed this game.
Glad you really enjoyed Kirby, that game is awesome! It's also good to see you got some great games for Christmas like Live A Live and Cowabunga Collection. I know you will love those games too (don't sit on Live A Live, you should play it ASAP)
It's gameplay. SoR4 has a combo system that you can use to rack up more damage, and it's very satisfying. The combat feels more enjoyable to me as well. TMNT, on the other hand, has plenty of moves, but the combat tends to feel repetitive quickly, and spamming the specials doesn't help. I also found the bosses in TMNT to be kinda cheap most the time. The spritework in TMNT is excellent, but I actually prefer the hand-drawn artstyle of SoR4. Also, the length of SoR4 is perfect (12 levels), while I felt that 16 levels for TMNT was definitely too long for a beat 'em up.
I'm guessing your favorite character for Shredder's Revenge is April and for SoR4 it's Cherry. Am I right?
Lots of good games there. Cowabunga Collection is awesome, you can finally play those arcade games (4 players!)
Hm for some reason I thought there only 3 playtrhoughs for Nier. I might just have to look them up because this game broke me (I just lost patience with it).
Streets of Rage 4 is one of the best beat 'em ups ever, so you should definitely get it. It's better than Shredder's Revenge.
There are TONS of great games on Switch, so you shouldn't having any probelms building your collection. I would recommend Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, and Metroid Dread. Also Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8 (if you don't have these games yet)
It figures Pac-Man would win GOTY for you lol. This was a great year! I'll be posting about the games I beat this year and my personal GOTY later in the month. It was a good year for Turtles fans! And Pokemon too. And Sonic fans are pretty happy with Frontiers. I really enjoyed Splatoon 3, I was shocked (but very happy) that it won Best Multiplayer at the Game Awards.
Actually, I've done it two ways--online (which was really cool), and with the nieces and nephews (some had to use joy cons).
Shredder's Revenge is my GOTY, it's fantastic! I wouldn't say it's better than TMNT 4 for SNES because it gets repetitive and is too long, but with 6 players, it's a blast.
