Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed

Posted on 12/24/2015 at 02:21 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I loved those collections.  There was also a Capcom Classics Collection: Reloaded for PSP.  I wish companies would still release collections like this.  Other than Rare Replay (for a system I don't own), there's not much out there.  I would kill for collections from Square Enix, Sega, Dreamcast era Capcom, Konami, PSone era Namco, and Nintendo.  But I guess the companies make more money selling us upscaled ports individually, or in Konami's case, none at all.

What Game Series Would You Bring Back from the Dead??

Parasite Eve, but bring it back to its RPG roots, not the action/survival horror thing it became.  After I played the first one, I envisioned the sequel as an expanded RPG with a full party (not just Aya, but her squad-mates as well).  There aren't many RPGs set in a modern city like New York (they're usually either fantasy or futuristic sci-fi).  Anyway, I was kind of disappointed in the Resident Evil-ish Parasite Eve 2.  I didn't hate 3rd Birthday as much as a lot of people (though I never got too far into the game), but probably mostly because I was just thankful that SquareEnix revisited the series, and was already resigned to the fact that they were never going to make the RPG I wanted.

What is Your Most Arresting Gaming Experience of the Past Five Years?

Nothing in the last few years, except maybe P.T.  That "game" did more with just one hallway than most full retail games.  It's a shame we probably won't get to see what Silent Hills could have become, but honestly, I don't see how it could have lived up to the playable teaser.

Last gen, two series stick out for me: Portal and Bioshock.  I don't even care for first-person viewpoint, but I got accustomed to it just to get lost in those worlds.

2001, A Blog Odyssey

2001, I was still relatively young (would have been two years after graduating college), and didn't really have any responsibilities.  I had a lot of fun during those years, played a lot of games, went to E3 just before the launch of the Xbox and Gamecube.  I think I really started getting into coloring my artwork digitally and setting up my deviantart page.  I wish I had the time and energy now that I did back then...

Ranger stuff, the injured finger edition

Entertaining read.  I'm not really a nature guy (other than watching documentaries on Netflix lol), so it's pretty interesting to read about your hands on experiences.  I usually just ignore frogs and whatnot and don't think about interacting with them, so it's neat to see that you've kind of trained them and the toad.  Hope your finger heals quickly.

Digital Distribution and Metal Gear

I still buy the majority of my games on disc.  However, I have a ton of digital games as well (it's usually the result of irresistable "flash sales" on PSN).  I prefer getting a case and disc whenever I make a purchase because I like having a physical collection as opposed to a digital library, though I do admit the convenience of digital is a bonus (though the PS4 hard drive space is ridiculously limited).  Plus, I am pretty lazy when it comes to gaming, so I often play a downloaded game or whatever's in the system rather than get up and grab a game off the shelf lol.

Happy Birthday PlayStation (and Dreamcast)!

Yeah, the small white PS one was sexy.  I don't own a PS one or a Dreamcast anymore.  I still have a bunch of PS one games though, and can play them on my 2 or 3 whenever I want (but never do).  I regret selling a bunch of my Dreamcast games.  They were mostly Capcom fighters, and I didn't really have an attachment to them at the time, but most have never been released on any other system for some inexplicable reason (I would kill to get my Project Justice again).  I'm actually surprised Capcom doesn't release a fighting game collection with Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Tech Romancer, Plasma Sword, Rival Schools, etc.  It would print money.

Ridge Racer Review

I either didn't buy Ridge Racer Revolution, or I traded it in shortly after I got it, because it wasn't much different than the first one.  I think I beat the Angel car, though my memory is hazy.  I remember unlocking it, but maybe there was a cheat?

I bought every main Ridge Racer entry except 6, which was Xbox 360 exclusive (and I was a late adopter), and because 7 for PS3 was pretty much the same game I think.  I also skipped the Vita game because microtransactions.  The PSP game was great because it had tracks from all the earlier games..

Happy Birthday PlayStation (and Dreamcast)!

Did FFVIII come out that day?  I played the crap out of that game, so I guess I was in gamer heaven during that time.  Man, I wish I had time to play games like that again.

Happy Birthday PlayStation (and Dreamcast)!

Yeah, I figured I could get the SNES back one day, but I didn't really miss it.  Most of my games were versions of Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.  I do regret getting rid of Castlevania IV and Axelay, two of my favorites from the system, but I bought them on Wii Virtual Console and still love them.
