Vita Limited to Single PSN Account

Bad news for those looking to share.

There's been a wave of not so good news concerning the Vita these past few weeks.  With the announcement of expensive memory sticks and a UMD Passport launch lineup that is somewhat lacking the Vita is in a position where it could use some good news.  Now isn't that time though, as we have no found that the Vita will severly limit your PSN account flexibility.

According to a launch information flyer distributed at a PlayStation Vita demo event in Osaka, Japan you’ll be limited to linking a single PSN account to your Sony handheld.  That’s not to say that you’ll be limited to a single account for all eternity, but use of another account will require you to reformat the system to factory settings.

This, of course, limits the flexibility a user would otherwise have with multiple accounts and more specifically will make it a bigger hassle for gamers looking to create both US and Japanese accounts in order to take advantage of Japan only titles on the region free device.

Sony has yet to comment officially on this news, but we’ll bring you more information as it becomes available.

Jeez Sony, you're really doing a great job of unselling me a Vita.

This news was disappointing. Still excited for the Vita, but was hoping for multiple profiles on it without having to reformat or whatever.

For me the price of Vita Memory cards have a bigger impact than this. I never made a JPN PSN account for imports so this has little bearing to me. I have a feeling this was implemented to combat game sharing, and the fact that a portable is more of a "personal device" and a console is SUPPOSED to be a social device.

The memory cards are a sucky thing too. This is just another detractor for me, considering I actually have 2 people in my household RIGHT NOW who play games. Give it a couple more years and I'm sure that will be 3 with my son. I also have a PixlBit general account that I use for other site related purposes that I now won't be able to sync. It's annoying and unnecessary. God only knows why Sony would have such a shortsighted design.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Review

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen an entry in the Metroid Prime series - 18 years, in fact. It was 8 years ago that Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced and its development was more than a little turbulent. Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
