Wasteland 2 Comes With Wasteland

Get two games for the price of one when Wasteland 2 is complete.

During the past few months it feels like nearly every legendary game designer of the ‘80s and ‘90s has come out of the woodwork with a Kickstarter to either create a new game or a remake of one of their classics. One of the more high profile games to get funded was inXile’s Wasteland 2. Wasteland was a game that captured the hearts and minds of many PC gamers in the late ‘80s, but for a vast majority of current players it’s not a known quantity. If you’re one of those late-to-the-party people that are curious about picking up this sequel, fear not; it was announced today that Wasteland 2 will have the original game included.

PB & Jason Issue 91: Bang! Boom! Fireworks!

Join Jason in the hunt for a solid Fourth of July video game.

This week's PB & Jason has a focus on fireworks! Well, maybe not fireworks exactly, but rather the Fourth of July, the USA's Independence Day. Expect to hear of a handful of video games that really get in the July 4th spirit with fireworks and, in the case of Metal Gear Solid 2, convoluted plots! For those of you looking for a little more than holidays, don't worry! I've packed PB & Jason 91 with a lot more, mostly centered around what video games I'd like to see in the future! Spoiler Alert: I mention the Ice Climbers. A lot. There's also some hype for the Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess concert I'll be attending in less than two weeks, as well as a little bit of discussion about a not-so-retro game I'm replaying: Dragon Quest IX. Click through to find listening and download links!

The tale of souls and swords as it was originally retold.

In the beginning of the previous decade, the fighting genre saw a decline in popularity. The genre had become overpopulated and stale and much fewer titles were released. However, the original SoulCalibur stood out as one of the absolute best. The Sega Dreamcast's killer app has been ported to the XBLA and is still one of the best games of its genre and a title every fighting game fan should own.

Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Review

A veteran fighting franchise makes a statement.

The Virtua Fighter series is well known and applauded for its balance and its simple complexity. A fighting game played with only three buttons, Virtua Fighter features a simple control scheme but adds incredible depth with its refined gameplay systems. This may seem odd when compared to other fighters that use more buttons, but Virtua Fighter is arguably one of the most complex fighting games on the market. With this latest iteration—subtitled Final Showdown—the series emphasizes its strong points.
