Hello, everybody!

Avid's back and he's blogging again. God help us all.

Quite a bit has happened since early October's post so here are the big things:

First, I've finally relocated to a new residence after searching for 4 months. Rent at my previous apartment was way too high and I kept struggling to pay it these last months. I'm also tired of my loud, redneck neighbors and the long (due to traffic), 25 minute drive to work. I responded to a Craigslist ad and found a nice, actual house. The landlord (who operates a local motel) wasn't getting any takers and was ready to winterize and close the building off till spring. He was also wanting a rent price at $575 a month ($400-450 was my range) and I told him my situation and he and his wife decided to go down to $450. I paid the $200 deposit (also a shocker on how low that was), had water and electricity turned on, paid the first month of rent and moved in Nov. 19.

The weather that weekend was extremely shitty so I only made two trips for hauling furniture. The house also requires a gas connection but the serviceman couldn't come up to turn it on until I was there. I overslept and missed him the following Monday morning, rescheduled and had it turned on Tuesday morning. So now I had hot air and water. This morning, I finally had internet turned on (and switched providers; I could eligible for a fiber connection in the near future!!!!!) so that's a relief.

My parents were thrilled about the relocation. My mother had long wanted me to move closer to work so I could save up on gasoline when I travel. They were just as surprised as I was that I actually nabbed a house instead of an apartment. It was coming down to this place and a one-bedroom apartment about 15 minutes out of town. I believe I made the right choice.

And because it's near Christmas, I can see that a lot of my gifts will be for home-furnishing. My brother has already delivered one early present (a microwave!) so now I'll need to decide what else I want/need.

The floors in the house are all vinyl so I'll need to stock up on rugs a little. My sister gave me a huge area rug that I plan to set down in the living room when I get the energy (currently: none). My mom gave me some smaller rugs I can put down in the kitchen area. She also gave me a toaster she wasn't using.

And if all of that wasn't enough to lift my spirits, I was fortunate enough to get a second vehicle. My father wanted a second truck to be used mostly for hunting (the other is for work) but he had this 1999 Honda CR-V that would probably just sit in the yard. So he gave me the CR-V. He had it serviced and cleaned up as much as it could be. We got the insurance settled so now I own two rigs. A house and two vehicles. Didn't see that coming.

Now I've got to find time to finish unpacking and I'm not looking forward to that but at least I have a home with most of the comforts in place.

Gaming wise, I'm still working on Nier Automata. It's a great game and I'll most likely keep my copy from Gamefly. During the Black Friday sale I also picked up Ni-Oh as I've been looking forward to it. The only other Black Friday game purchases I made was logging on to the 3DS e-shop and buying Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Ages, Castlevania and Castlevania III. Seemed like a good idea for $10.

Movie-wise? I've fallen a bit behind but of course I've seen Justice League and Thor Ragnarok and was truly delighted by both of them. Over Thanksgiving weekend, I rented Valerian: The City of a Thousand Planets in the hope my mom and sister would be entertained. They liked it but found it corny at times.

The big releases I'm looking forward to now are: Molly's Game, The Post, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Phantom Thread. I suspect that two of them won't get wide-released until January. Now that internet is set up, I can catch up on streaming.

Dear Lord, that's enough rambling. But, I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and are doing well overall.

congrats on the new place and car man! Sounds like a lot of your problems got handled in one big swoop. It's nice when that happens.

I'm gonna buy Nioh for my brother for Xmas. I think he'll like it. I'd like to buy Nier for myself but I'm already backlogged so much, and I think I'm gonna buy Xenoblade for the Switch this week.

Glad the holidays have been treating u well!

Great man! Sounds like your set up nice.

I really want to play Neir Automata and Nioh. Sometime when I'm in the money, I think.

I almost saw Justice League but bailed at the last moment in favor of a poetry reading. I've heard it's a mix bag of good and bad. I keep thinking I might go see it before it leaves the theaters, though.
