So, in the last 4 months or so since I posted a blog entry, the only big life change was when, at the end of July, I was in my first fender bender. It was an accident and it was my fault (I was cited for failure to yield) and no one was hurt (thank god), but the 1999 Honda CR-V was totalled. The front passenger side looked like it was caved in. I didn't have the car for very long (6 months shy of 2 years) but it was a good vehicle and it hurt to see it go. Again: accident, no one was hurt but I liked that car.
So, for a couple of months, I was borrowing rides or getting rides from friends. Halfway through that second month (September), I finally found online a good deal for a cheap vehicle that had the fewest problems with it. It's a 2002 Buick Rendevous and serious need of a paint job and a cracked wind shield (but not bad enough that you can't drive it) but the engine, tires, breaks, ac and radio all works just fine. Got it for $600 in cash (it was an insurance rebuild title), got it insured and registration/plates the same day and with some initial clean-up, I had a ride again. I've never felt such relief. It's an eyesore but it worked well for my budget and it gets me from work and back every day so far. I hope it turns out to be a good car in the long run. Hopefully, that wreck will inspire me to make smarter choices on the road.
The podcast is going well. I'm averaging one episode a month but the last few episodes have been 2-3 hours so I think that makes up for the frequency. I'm working on some solo episodes before I have another guest.
Gaming wise, it's been mostly the old standbys. Gears 5 did drop last month but what I've done there is mostly a good chunk of campaign and a lot of Horde. Some of the mechanics/controls updates are good, some are bonkers (e.g., you never have enough time in the Horde menu to set up your character or perks as opposed to the ample time you had in Gears 4) but the game looks and sounds great.
Red Dead Redemption 2 recently had a big update to its online mode by adding jobs. You can be a bounty hunter, collector or trader. I opted for bounty hunter first and so far, it's been fun. I screwed up the first four attempts because I didn't think to enter the zone where the bounty is in stealth....so I died quickly. And while I try to bring in the bounties alive (because you get more money and XP), accidents can happen. But it's a fun way to keep occupied if you're playing solo.
As I'm primarily on Xbox One these days, I make good use out of the Game Pass Ultimate service. Before September ended, i was able to purchase two games before they were taken off the service: Ninja Gaiden Black and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. I love both of these games so it feels good to have them tied to my account.
On the 3DS, of course I'm managing my town in Animal Crossing New Leaf. I've added a coffee shop and a police station recently and I'm working on the funds for a Dream Suite, whatever the hell that is. And I'm moving on with baby steps but I'm putting in some time for Pokemon Gold; as old as that game is, it holds up well. I think I would've got into RPGs a lot earlier if I had access to that game.
Before this week is over, I'll post again about what I've been watching. I hope everyone is doing well here and I've got your blog posts to catch up on as well. Take care!
