Guacamelee, Batman and the death of an iPod

As I write this, there are 15 more days left of school which means 15 more days of long night shifts that cut into my free time (aka gaming time), sleep patterns and overall awareness of society. After May 25, that ends and for the next 3 months, everything reverts back to day shifts. Lovely, happy, managable day shifts. I wake up when everyone else does, sleep when everyone else does and not feel like a damn zombie like only a select percentage do.

Since I last posted, I made good on my plan to get Ni No Kuni for $30 at Walmart but I didn't start it up straight away. By that point, I had already put in enough time into Batman: Arkham Asylum so I continued through it and finally wrapped it up last night. It's truly one of the best games I've ever played and makes great use out of the source material. Good graphics, voice work, writing, combat, sound design (some truly bizarre moments in that area)...it's all worth it. I also have a copy of Arkham City but I'm going to hold off on that so that I don't OD on Batman.

I also managed to find used copies of Resistance 1 & 2 for $9 total. I'm not sure why they were that cheap; the discs and cases were in reasonably good shape.

I beat Guacamelee on the normal difficulty a week ago. I'm not sure that I found everything but I did find all of the orbs to get an alternative ending. Based on how that turned out, I'm happy that I did. I shudder to think what the difference is. But what a fantastic game for reasons I've mentioned before. I've started a game file on the hard mode but I'm not going to jump into that straight away.

Speaking of the VIta, I still keep putting time into Plants Vs Zombies every now and then (mostly during breaks from work). I'm on my 2nd playthrough through the adventure mode, collecting plants for my zen garden, raising enough money to buy all of the stuff in the shop (I'm pretty sure I've got all of the plants and weapons upgrades by now) and unlocking mini-games and other features. It keeps on giving and I'm not sure why I'm investing more time in the Vita version than on the PC, iPod or Nook Color versions that I own.

Five days ago, I did something truly stupid and accidentally left my 80 GB Classic iPod in my truck where the sun directly hit it and apparently fried the hell out of it. I love that model and it's been through a lot of wear and tear. I plan to buy a new battery for it to see if that will fix things but if more than just the battery is damaged than I'm out of luck. I still have my 8 GB iPod touch and another 30 GB classic model (which also needs a battery). These things are life-savers at work; my sanity would've eroded a long time ago where it not for iPods.

Anyway, I'm planning on picking up where I left off on Ni No Kuni, maybe fit in some Killzone 2 campaign and seeing Iron Man 3 this afternoon. Work will await me tomorrow but that's unavoidable. Thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend!

sorry about your ipod.  I dunno if a new battery will fix it, but maybe.  I love my iOS devices, haters be damned!

Guacamelee looks good.  Did you play it on Vita or PS3?  Maybe I will download it soon, but I wish i had a Vita I could play it on.

Ni No Kuni is awesome.  You'll love it.

I played Guacamelee entirely on my Vita. I'm not sure if that was the intended way to play it but some of the features (swiping between your human and chicken form) puzzles me as to how they'd work on the PS3. They're a natural fit on the Vita and I was really wanting something like that on the go.

Oh, I know about Ni No Kuni. I kept my rental copy for 2 months before I sent it back and purchased a copy. That's the kind of game you'd want to live with. Also, I should give other Gamefly members a chance to play it. That and I'm not paying Gamefly $50 for a used game.

If only I could have an iPod at the places I worked the late-night shift ... I took that dive straight into insanity. lol

Hope it's just the battery, though, that sucks to hear.

What happened to your Ipod really sucks. Hope you get it fix.

Man that sucks about your Ipod. I hope you can figure it out. Resistance is a great series. I loved the first one. I just bought the third the other day. It seems great from the little bit that I played of it.

It's too bad iPods are so expensive years later, otherwise I'd say screw it and get a new one.

Ni no Kuni is awesome. My favorite game of the generation other than Valkyria Chronicles.
