In which I post one more blog before the decade deadline...

As I'm writing this, its a little after 10 p.m. so the year/decade is about to wear down. I'm at home, warm and cozy, drinking some PBR and will probably bring in the new year by playing some games (mostly likely Gears 5 from the looks of things). I got home yesterday after staying with my parents and family for 6 days for the Christmas week; it was great, lots of good food, lots of time spent with my adorable 10-month old nephew and I got some decent gifts, most of which were practical but only a few could count as toys (The Making of Alien by J.W. Rinzler, Changes by David Bowie on vinyl, Led Zeppelin's 4th album on vinyl).

I didn't play much while on break unless it was on my 2DS or on the SNES Classic. I didn't think I would have enough time to play anything on my Xbox One so I chose not to bring it and I was right: I had little time. The most notable gaming thing that happened was this: on Christmas Day evening, I was able to borrow my sister's laptop so I could do something I've been wanting to do for months: modify my SNES Classic (my laptop is old and doesn't run current Windows). So, instead of the 21 games, I've increased the roster to about 184 by adding roms of both SNES and NES games and they mostly work perfectly, even with the device's save system (only 4 games can't be played for some reason). All of the obvious games that were missing (e.g., Chrono Trigger, Super Mario All-Stars, Final Fantasy II, Turtles In Time, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, DKC 2: Diddy Kong's Quest) are there and a bunch more, including games that I haven't played before. Some of these were the Super Famicom versions so I can't play certain RPGs because I can't read a lick of Japanese, yet I wanted them anyway. There's so many that I can't mention all of them but I turned this device into the best gaming console ever made.

Everyone on social media seems to be taking stock in their life as this decade comes to a close. As for myself, I'm still in the best living quarters that I lucked myself into with water, electricity and internet. I'm not in prison, I've paid my taxes and while there has been mistakes or hard passages (being homeless for 7 months; being unemployed twice in the same year, not having a vehicle for 2 months), I've managed to survive the craziest decade in my life. I hope I can make better decisions going forward. But I've got my family and good friends to help me. Hopefully I can be there for them.

Well, I've got to go and game into the next decade but I wanted to wish everyone here a Happy New Year and I look forward to reading your stuff as always!

Zep 4 on vinyl, huh? "Been so long since I rock 'n' roll!". Love it.

I needed a new copy because the previous one is scratched and won't play properly.

I've noticed that current remasters really change the sound of these old classics. I'm not I like it.

Possibly. But I don't think that I have the ears of an audiophile to really know.
