BaD: In which waah, waah, waah....

I turn 40 later this year so to show that I'm truly on my way to cranky curmudgeon status, I'll start off by saying how much I hate winter weather season. My house is the kind that usually keeps cool during warmer weather so trying to heat this place makes my electricity and gas bills go up (honestly, that I spend more time gaming or using my tv rather than freeze to death outside also contributes to that). After this month, it should start to get warmer so I'll be happy then.

Gaming: I still make my daily appearances in Red Dead 2 Online mode and Animal Crossing New Leaf and enjoy doing so. The specialist roles in RD2O give solo players like myself (members of my posse, The Rhoades Warriors, haven't shown up in months so maybe they've moved on) plenty to do in the meantime. Bounty hunting is fun, trading is a little more busywork but I haven't invested much in collecting. I need about 4 more gold bars to start a moonshining business. You'll earn more money doing all these things. There's only so many hours during the day, though.

I'm still digging into the library of my modded SNES Classic. This system had so many great games I never got anywhere close to back in the day. I've been enjoying titles like Axelay, Doom Troopers, Breath of Fire (well, it's okay so far; very grindy) and Metal Warriors as well as dipping back into classics like Actraiser, DKC 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Super Mario World (gonna unlock all the levels again so help me god) and TMNT IV (gonna beat it again on hard mode again again so help me god).

I was sick last weekend (cold) so I haven't seen anything recent like Birds of Prey or The Rhythm Section. Since the year began I've seen 1917 (worthwhile), Bad Boys For Life (better than you'd think) and The Gentlemen (nothing new from Guy Ritchie but dependable entertainment).

I have no interest in Sonic The Hedgehog, either as a video game or a movie adaptation. Some here may balk at that, at least in terms of gaming. I can recognize that the series/character is important and popular but as a platformer, the Super Mario series always made more sense to me in terms of controls, mechanics and level design/layout. Both of the series haven't made much sense in terms of story and have become headaches in terms of adaptation for either big or small screen. What I've seen from the trailers for Sonic is that attempt to make up for the incoherency by slapping a what-if-this-character-existed-in-our-world/fish-out-of-water/buddy comedy where the cgi characters causes a lot of problems and stresses out the life of the human. They couldn't sell me on it so I'll sit this one out. This has been my TED talk.

So let's see if I can actually commit to more BaD posts while there's still half a month left. I hope everyone here has been doing well. Laterz.

Yeah, that sonic movie looks pretty predictable.  I doubt I'll ever see it.

40 isn't so bad. I turned 43 in January. 43 is the new 40 for me. Tongue Out

Yeah I never understood the draw of most Sonic games.  There's very few I really like, but they are out there.  Mario games are so much better.  I'll probably still see the movie, though.

SNES mini sounds good. I haven't seen a film in a few months. I'm getting very choosey. I was tempted to see Birds of Prey but I didn't like the trailers.

I loved 1917 and was surprised how little I noticed the one-take gimmick. Masterful directing/editing.

I'm only turning 30 this year, so I'll enjoy Sonic like the child I am.

Hope you enjoyed it.

I did not ... It was exactly what the original batch of trailers promised and a waste of $12. I would have preferred the original design so at least I'd think it is an INTERESTING bad movie.
