Greetings all,

Like many, I haven’t had the free time lately to write blogs on this site. I will try to improve on that though. Work has been grueling in the last month or so, and I haven’t been up to much besides work, eat and sleep.

I was seeing a girl for about 3 months as well, we ended up parting ways recently though. It always sucks to lose someone in your life, but in the end it was probably better for the both of us.  We are at different points in our lives with different priorities (me = work, her = school). It does suck in the way that we did have common interest though; sports, video games, fitness and being social. To be blatantly honest, I felt I was giving a lot more and she was hardly trying which killed my motivation to want to be with her and it went downhill from there. Another big turnoff was that she smoked weed, and I have NEVER been into that. A lot of my friends growing up did and still do, I just always chose to not partake in it.

So that what I have been up to and the main reason I have not been as active on this site. I do log on here and read blogs and find them very entertaining when I am working late or on my lunch and need a breather.

I have managed to get in a bit of gaming and *sigh* did buy some new ones, lol. So the backlog grows even more.

E3 2013

E3 is next week! Cannot believe it’s already here. Right now I am on the fence whether I will be purchasing a next gen console or not with the direction that DRM is going on the consoles, the PS4 looks rather enticing though. After next week I hope that this is all cleared up. The Xbox One doesn’t appeal to me at all so far, I haven’t made any definitive decisions yet, but I have owned every Playstation console to date (except portables).

MY DREAM GAME

With E3 next week, I wanted to take a second to describe my dream game that would be made, not necessarily announced next week, but sometime in the next gen console cycle (because I am 99% sure this will not be announced).

And my DREAM GAME IS:  Metal Gear (original) remake where you play as young Solid Snake and face off against Big Boss, Gray Fox and Outer Heaven. If that would be made, I would buy anything it was announced for. I am a huge Metal Gear fan, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. So anyone that wants to say their dream game below, you’re more than welcome.

CURRENTLY PLAYING

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception  (PS3)

I just completed this game this last weekend, it was long overdue. My thoughts about this game are that it was very fun and I enjoyed my time with it. I would say that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is the best in the series though. Don’t take that as a knock against this game though, I mean it is still a high quality experience in my opinion, it just felt like all the characters were put in as cameos rather than part of the story. Sully appeared the most and I did enjoy his contribution, it just didn’t seem as genuine for some reason. In the end, I love this series and this is a great entry.

Heavenly Sword  (PS3)

Going deep into my backlog, I though this game was long overdue as well for a play through. I have just started it and I can tell right off the bat it is an early Playstation 3 game. It still looks great, the gameplay is not as refined as a God of War or Devil May Cry though in my opinion. I just had my first encounter with King Bohan (played by Andy Serkis) and wow, he is voiced and animated awesome, and it steals the show! I find myself going back and watching the cutscene again to see his parts. His motions, nuances and dialogue are so entertaining, it reminds me of the Joker (Heath Ledger) in the Dark Knight.  I am enjoying the game, my only complaint so far is the parts where you control the arrows/cannon balls with the six axis controller; not liking it.

Here is an early encounter cutscene with King Bohan:

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (PS3)

I was waiting for this game to hit the price point that I currently buy games at ($25 or less), but I couldn’t hold off anymore. If you look at my top 20 favorite games of all time on my ABOUT ME section of this site, you will see the original Tekken Tag Tournament at #15. I received this game in the mail and instantly opened, installed (7.5GB install on PS3!) and played. I started at roughly 6:30pm and before I knew it, it was 11:00pm. I haven’t done that with a game in a while, I couldn’t even tell you the last time (maybe Mass Effect 3 or Mass Effect 2). This game is awesome, coming from a longtime Tekken fan. Stringing together juggles and combos is entertaining as ever. What I love about this game as well is that they included a SURVIVAL mode, which isn’t as common anymore in fighting games. As I have mentioned before it is more or less the horde mode of fighting games. Loving this game.

RECENT PURCHASES

Humble Indie Bundle 8 (PC, Steam)

I bought this Humble Bundle for one game mainly: Hotline Miami. I have read good things about it and the rest of the games in the bundle are just icing on the cake. I have messed around a bit with Hotline Miami and it reminds me a lot of Mission Impossible for the NES, except more violent and face paced. Will be playing in the coming months (hopefully).

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (PS3)

See above.

Walking Dead (PC, Steam)

Played the first two episodes of this on Playstation Plus and couldn’t pass it up. I paid $8 for it and I think that was more than worth it.

Mark of the Ninja (PC, Steam)

Bought this game for $3 during the Amazon sale. I love the look of it and can’t wait to play.

Conclusion

Well that about it. Cannot wait until next week, more specifically the Sony E3 press conference. I am Sony biased I will admit and always have been when it comes to consoles; too many good memories. Have a good weekend and E3 everyone.

I'll get Mark of the Ninja one day but i have a large enough pool of games to play through.

I love, love, loved! the First TTT but i haven't played a Tekken since, i with this game was on PC or something.

Did you hear Kiefer Sutherland is the new Snake? It's a very complimentary replace, i say.

I did hear that about Kiefer Sutherland voicing Snake in MGS5. I can understand why they did it, but it's the equivalent of replacing Andy Serkis as Gollum with someone else. I mean it's an iconic voice. I am skeptical but it may turn out to be alright in the end, especially if my dream game mentioned above is made and then you had two seperate voices for Big Boss and Solid Snake.

TTT2 is awesome, just like the original but some improvements. I wish it still had Tekken Bowl in it.

I spent a couple of hours with Hotline Miami, and decided that I might love it even more if I had a controller.

Yea, I hooked up my controller and played it that way, definitely an improvement. Using the mouse is difficult and you have to react so fast that I ended up dying alot.

I can't wait for E3 either.  I've pretty much resolved to buy myself a PS4 for Xmas, unless something goes wrong -- with me or it.

The PS4 is looking awesome. I hope E3 continues the momentum.

Very excited about E3 hope it reveals some unanswered questions. Sorry about yoyr girl relationships are rough i have been through two divorces and im happily married this time, but it usually wirks out for the best and her smoking weed and you not is no big deal well in my opinion but the bottom line is if your with her cause your lonely or cause you like being with her, anyway like the saying goes theres plenty more fish in the sea.

Yea, yet hats true. Maybe her lack of trying lately was a sign of disinterest or something elsesurely be feeling better in a week or two. Been here before. Sure it won't be the last either.

My dream game would have to be a third entry in the Chrono Trigger universe. I heard years ago that Square had got the copyrite to the name Chrono Blade, that was over ten years ago already. So they have done traveling chronologicaly through time and explored parralell time lines, so I think it would be cool to do a game that lets you do both. And Maybe give it a combat system that is kind of a hybrid of the systems from other two games. Give it a new cast but load it with cameos of characters from the first two. 3-D cell shaded graphics like DQ8 and get Toriyama back on character and monster design duty.Yeah... probably never gonna happen.Yell

I've never actually never played Chrono Trigger and I own Chrono Cross for the PS1. I got pretty far in it, but never beat it. I hear good things about Chrono Trigger.

Chrono Cross was a good game, very innovative and I loved the music. But Chrono Trigger is simply a must play masterpiece.

I quit Heavenly Sword a couple months ago.  I bought it this year and started it up.  Damn, I just couldn't get into it.  The controls aren't that great and I was just bored with it from the start.  It looks nice though.

Yea, the controls are kinda bad I'll admit. I'm more in it for the story at this point which I am fully into.

Heavenly Sword was one of the first PS3 games I ever bought. Andy Serkis is brillant in that role. Hotline Miami is a lot of fun. I was playing that but stopped due to some unkown reason. I probably bought something else. Damn this hideous backlog!  I'm sorry to hear about your break up, but honestly it sounds like you are a lot better off. It's good to hear from you again man!

Hotline Miami seems like your kind of game, I mean throw back to retro. I had mentioned that it reminded me a lot of Mission Impossible for the NES, you ever play that game?

Aboboisdaman

I've never played Mission Impossible. My friend was telling me to for the longest time. I'll look into it though. I'm still finding random NES gems every so often even after all these years. Smile

I don't remember it I would consider it a good game since it's been so long since I've played it. I just remember the gameplay being very similar to Hotline Miami. I remember it was very tough though.

A whole bunch of official news came out on the XBox One today. Man, it is not good.

Sorry to hear about your girl. Those things happen sometime. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.

Wow, that sounds like it seals the deal of me not buying a Xbox One. I really hope that the PS4 doesn't follow those same strageties, I might  stay on PC if worst comes to worst...

Well on the bright side they have guaranteed that they just earned a spot in the Guiness World Book of records for most doomed to fail video game console. The folks at Nintendo are probably relieved as hell and Sony is licking their chops like a wolf in a pig pin.

I'm mostly interested in more next gen console details at E3.

Heavenly Sword always looked awesome, but I could imagine not being as polished as others. Mark of the Ninja looks great as well, love stylish side scrollers.

F1r3inth3H0L3

06/06/2013 at 11:21 PM

Yea, me too. I hope this used game steal with Xbox One doesn't carry over to PS4. I can't wait until next week.

Mark of the Ninja is very good. Was giving it a quick run through and am liking what I am playing.

My two favorite fighters have for the past few gens been DOA and Tekken. Tekken 3 is probably my favorite of all time. I just recently realised I'm done with DOA5 and you make a good case for me to jump on the Tekken Tag 2 boat. Is there still many people playing online? I found with DOA5 that at times there was barely anyone playing

F1r3inth3H0L3

06/07/2013 at 01:44 PM

I haven't played it online yet. More of just practice mode, arcade mode and survival mode. Sorry I can't be of help.
