Happy Canada Day everybody! I truly love our neighbors north of the border, so in celebration of this holiday here is a list of a few things I thank the hosers for.

Mass Effect

Mass Effect 1 is one of my favorite games of this generation and was one of the pleasant surprises that made 2007 such an epic year for gaming. I'm pretty sure it was developed primarily in Bioware's Canadian studios, such as their hub in Edmonton. Thank you Canada, you get the credit for this amazing sci-fi epic.

Les Stroud/Survivorman

I love Discovery Channel's television show Survivorman. That poser Bear Grylls can eat his heart out. Les carries all his own cameras and films his show by himself in the wild, he has a much more relatable demeanor, and I learn more from his take on surviving in a crisis.

Ellen Page

Ellen is one of my favorite actresses. I've had a little crush on her since Juno, and she's only gotten more rad ever since, thanks to movies like Inception and Super. Thank you for Ellen Page, Halifax!

Colorado Avalanche

For anybody that didn't know already, I'm from Colorado. I grew up watching Avalanche hockey since I was a kid and I've been in love with this sport for a long time, and especially this team, through the multiple Stanley Cup winning good times and the bottom of the conference bad times. The Avalanche were originally the Quebec Nordique franchise based out of Quebec City. Sadly the hockey fans up there had to lose their team, but when it moved here to Colorado we wrapped it in our arms and haven't let go since. Thank you Quebec City, we love the Avalanche!

Rush

This legendary prog-rock group came screaming out of Toronto, Ontario in the 70's like a Canadian Led Zeppelin. This is one of my favorite bands and I thank you for it, Toronto.

Happy Canada Day everybody!

That should read "for not having American govt".  I will stand up for America.  Most Americans are good, regular likeable people.  However our government fucks everything up for us.  People hate us because of our govt.  As the whole NSA and related spy shit has shown, most Americans have no idea what our govt is up too.  And the govt approval ratings show that even Americans don't like our govt.

No, actually, it should be "For not being a Southern State of America." I acknowledge that most people in America are decent people who aren't completely braindead, but the ones who are completely braindead are the most vocal, and they give the whole Country a bad name.

I'll be honest, I can't argue with you there.  With have a lot of public people say and do really dumb shit.  At least Justin Beiber isn't American.

Kids in the Hall.  Good times.  I mentioned meeting Dave Foley to an intern in my office.  He said "who the fuck is Dave Foley?". I said "he was in Kids in the Hall, News Radio, a bunch of movies, he is a funny dude".  All I got was a blank stare.  Kids these days.  I agree with Michael on Ellen Page and Rush.  And their govt can balance a budget.

You know, I went to Canada in 2008, by being part of a english learing program. Really cool nation. I really would like to live in Toronto or Quebec, even if my french is VERY poor, or also live in the city were my godmother lives, which I don't remember the name, but it's located in British Columbia.

And yes, many great things from Canada; From music (Neil Young, Devin Townsend, Arcade Fire, Deadmau5, Godspeed You! Black Emperor) and also profilic movie directors (David Cronemberg, James Cameron).
