New IPs I am Excited About (what about you?)

The Last of Us was an incredible fun and unique experience that had a lasting story. I love creative and unique experiences. There is a lot more new IPs coming on current and next gen titles. Here are ten titles I am excited to play this year.

New IPs

I will get right into 3 of my most anticipated. These are 3 ambitious titles and they all needed to be connected online to play and or to get the full experience of what they have to offer. The Division was impressive with its little touches like destruction going on and pushing the door of a car as you scooted by it. Destiny is exciting because it’s Bungie and love the lore behind the title. Finally we go to see Titanfall. A good read in the lastest Game Informer. Having a lot of the original creators behind Call of Duty 4 is a big deal and the game looks and sounds impressive.

New IPs

Killer is Dead, a Grasshopper Manufacture game by the mind of Suda 51. That is enough for me. I like the visual look. The thing is I love the crazy and weird titles from Suda 51. His games have that crazy Japanese vibe. The next title as picture is The Evil Within. Shinji Mikami is involved with it and with his track record; that could mean for a great gaming experience. The next title is The Wolf Among Us. I never been a fan of point and click games but The Walking Dead: The Video Game was pretty unique its presentation and it was an incredible one and up there with The Last of Us as some of the best if not the best stories every told in a game. I look forward to the story and making some critical discussions.

New IPs

What would the list be without Beyond: Two Souls? Heavy Rain was a unique experience. I look forward to seeing where the game takes us. I like how they are making the QTE more organic with the controls. The next title is The Order: 1886. Ready at Dawn is talented. I am sure this game will end up being huge. I love the aesthetic and look forward and excited it’s not a FPS. The Quantum Break sounds interesting. I love how you make decisions and it effects what happens in the show. Remedy is a great developer so it will be interesting to see what happens. Lastly but not least is Watch Dogs. It was a major deal at last E3 and for good reason. A big sandbox game that opens up many possibilities by hacking into anything.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Transistor, Dragon’s Crown, Tearaway, and LocoCycle

Killer is Dead looks awesome, I don't know if I've ever even played a Suda 51 game, but I love the cel-shaded aesthetic and the vibe they give me. Evil Within also sounds very promising; haven't played a Resident Evil yet, but I'm hoping it can take Eternal Darkness' place as the game that can really get under my skin.

Beyond: Two Souls I'm not quite sold on. I watched a Let's Play of Heavy Rain, and I'm not sure how much I honestly missed of the experience by not being the one pressing buttons; then again, maybe a lot, as my own choices were never factored in, I was simply shown the alternate routes by editing. Since I might actually own a console next gen, I guess we will see. Is Quantam Break supposed to be similar, but with live action stuff cut in? Cause if so, I honestly think that's a bit lame, but we'll see; it's an interesting gimmick, at least.

The Order: 1866 looks good, I'm hoping it will be a motley crew of legendary beasts you're after as opposed to just vampires or just werewolves. I agree I'm excited that it doesn't appear to be an FPS.

Watch Dogs has me cautiously optimistic, as it's a really good premise, but a really good premise can still go all kinds of wrong, potentially.

Some of my own include Killer Instinct, because it exists, and inFamous: Second Son because it looks really cool.

I am excited for Infamous: Second Son but I was just mentioning new IPs. That is original games that are not sequels. I am letdown with Killer Instinct. I am not impressed with it as I thought I would be. I am a bit turned off by the art design.

Ah, didn't really read the title, sorta just clicked here from messages and then kinda followed the bolded games when I read, so I didn't realize they were all meant to be new IPs only, just thought they were new games you were excited for in general. That's what happens when I read something at 3AM. lol

So yeah, I know what new IPs/intellectual properties are, just didn't catch that. I forget what its name is, but that one where the trailer is a kid running and grinding on rails down a sunny urban street for Xbox One looks good.

The only two that you put up there that I have any interest in are in your honorable mention section.

I'll definitely be getting Dragon's Crown for PS3.  I'm a little sad that Twisted Pixel is making LocoCycle for Xbox One, but I've seen it listed for the 360, too. I hope it is!

Tearaway seems like a game you would be interested in since its pretty charming and cute and all. Your not interested in it or is it simply because its on the Vita?

Yeah I don't have a Vita.

Castles of Illusion being a remake wouldnt be on my list of new IPs. Octodad should be some hilarous stupid fun.

Dragon's Crown - Vanillaware art style and I love the Capcom DnD brawlers.

Destiny - Nice, colorful art style, cool design work. I only play a few FPS every generation, and this is the number 1 contender for next gen that I've seen so far, unless Battlefield 4 is too awesome to miss.

Project Eternity - Obsidian RPG inspired by Icewind Dale? Yes please.

Super Time Force - Manic, Gunstar Heroes inspired pixel shooter where you can rewind time. And it's from Capybara, who have made some of the best indie games in the last few years.

Killer is Dead - Killer 7 is one of the few games I consider to be art in itself.  This looks to be cut from similar cloth, with some No More Heroes mixed in.

The Evil Within - The one I'm most skeptical of, although Mikami is one of the greats working today.  Hope it's not just RE4 with a different skin, and the enemies are dangerous.

Super Time Force. I am looking forward to that game.

Dragon's Crown, Killer is Dead, The Evil Within, and The Order: 1886 are the ones I'm interested in from your list. I'm also interested in Transistor, the latest from the people who made Bastion, which was a headline title at Sony's E3.

Transistor I would have sworn would end up as an Xbox One exclusive. Sony made some great moves and I think Microsoft hurt themselves with the whole needing a publisher and all.
