I'm hyped!
Fighting games and shmups are games I always wished I was good at, but just never was. I still enjoy playing them, but I never get very far.

It that time again, children. Time for outdoor grilling, a time for fireworks. Time to walks in the woods and outdoor activities. And more importantly, a time for all fighting game fans from around the world to converge in Las Vegas to the biggest fighting frenzy of the year. Yep, It's EVO time again.
EVO, short for Evolution, is the yearly tournament held for fighting games in Sin City and has grown bigger every year. This year its being held at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel, the largest venue the tournament ever hosted at. And with a star studded game line up, its no surprise. Featuring major tournaments for SSF 4 AE 2012, Street Fighter X Tekken 2012, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Persona 4 Arena, Mortal Kombat 9, Injustice: Gods Among Us, The King of Fighters XIII, and winner of the charity fan vote as well as returning to EVO, Super Smash Bros. Melee. On top of that, there will packed official side tournaments featuring Soul Calibur V, Skull Girls, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo. And even on top of that there will be even more stuff for fighting game fans to look forward too like panels and news announcements to look forward too. Glacius and a new character for the newest Killer Instinct are expected to be announced. EVO is also where Capcom might finally announce the changes (and possible additions) to the newest Street Fighter 4 update they announced at PAX earlier this year. More surprised are in store at EVO and it starts on this Friday the 12th till Sunday the 14th.
So to build up hype for EVO, I'm writing all about fighting games this week. I did this last year on 1UP, with a much longer and wordier title, but this year will be different. For starters, I'm actually planning this out a little better. This blog, for example, is actually being written on Saturday and being posted Sunday. See, progress! I've got at least four topical blogs in mind and three blogs to write, well whatever I feel like. It sounds weird but that's how I am, I enjoy planning things out. Anyway, enough on me because its EVO, BABY. Get hyped!
EVO 2013 Official Schedule
Let me know what fighting game you are looking forward to or hoping to hear more out of at EVO in the comments. For more info about EVO this year, please check out the Official EVO home page.
See you tomarrow!
I always like watching these events, we don't get any as big as EVO in britain, they're usually smaller and less frequent, i will never be at any of there levels because i have no kind of stratergy when i play. I'm an aggressive player. and i never get the grips of timed combos.
Guilty Gear gets no love
I didn't know that about Britian. I'm with you about skill level and combos too. But I still want to try to compete in a major someday.
It also sucks about Guilty Gear too but if Arc had its act together and released +R on time, it would probably be up on the roster too. At least, Persona 4 Arena is still up representing Arc.
