Readjusting to late night shifts isn't easy but I'm starting to get used to it. I actually prefer the football season at this school; there's an average of 2 game nights a week. The basketball season is what tested me last year: multiple game nights, more games, more people, more trash, more long nights. I pray this school doesn't host a tournament of any kind. Throw the lowly janitor a bone for once.
It doesn't help productivity, but I still bring my Vita with me just in case I need to scratch that itch. I finished Stealth, Inc: A Clone In The Dark. a week ago and I truly love that game. Plenty of challenges, great level design and some hilarious sight gags. The sentry bots and level boss (it was the same design, this HAL 9000-like super security defense bot with impeccable motion sensors) even had personality. Even the ending was superb; I laughed so hard at the cruelty of it. Highly recommended.
Since then, I've been playing Dragon Fantasy Book I and its a great throwback to Phantasy Star I, the early Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games. It's pretty grindy but well designed and the text dialogue and writing are clever. I'm approaching it with old-fashion (just grind close to town until you can afford the best weapons and then move on) and it helps to pass the time. I really want to play the sequel (recently released) but I missed the opportunity to get it on sale. Eh, $3 won't make that big a difference.
And yes, I'm giving Halo 4 another chance. Gamefly had used copies for $12 and I've been meaning to pick it up again. I sold my copy some months back when I had my shitfit over the mutliplayer but I'm hoping the patches since then has helped the strafing problem that I had. I actually miss the experience of jumping in some matches from time to time. I'll always have that affinity with the series. Maybe this time I won't blow a gasket and just accept the simple fact that I suck at multiplayer.
Speaking of Gamefly, they sent me Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Apparently there are still no copies of The Last of Us available but I've wanted to play this as well so I'll make time for it this week. Thankfully, I don't have any weekend football games to clog up my free time.
Speaking of such, game cleanup is how I spent my 33rd birthday last Friday. I received plenty of birthday greetings from family and friends (and some cards) and the closest thing I did to celebrating during the actual day is treating myself to a large grilled chicken breast salad at a local Italian restaurant. I further celebrated on the way home by picking up Star Trek Into Darkness on blu-ray.
I got home at 4 a.m. and slept until 2:30 p.m. I napped even longer on Sunday. I enjoy the simple things in life.
That's all for right now. Thanks for reading!
