What the hell, Setz! You said you're doing GLaD this month!

Yeah, I know. *plays Zelda cartoon music* But on Fridays, it's time to do BaD! Sorry to be trouble, but I thought it would be nice to tell you guys about myself. Life... dreams... hopes... Where do they come from? And where are they going? It is these things... I am going to destroy! *Kefka laugh*

As I stand here working nights at Speedway, occasionally a customer will come in and get some snackies or soda or coffee or cigarettes. When I greet them at the register, I always ask, "Are you all Setzer?" Nobody has ever got the joke. Although, a couple people HAVE noticed that my nametag is upside down. So it's not all bad.

I also work at Walmart part time. So between the two jobs, I get about 48 hours a week, all nights for 6 days a week. Plus I have my National Guard time once a month. So for the last couple months, I have been decently busy.

I like the Speedway job. Being an overnight cashier, it's pretty easy work. All I have to do at night is my cleaning tasks and check out customers. I really wish I could have gotten the full time Supervisor job, but I don't have an Indiana license. They "require" that you have one for a background check, which is bullshit, because I'm prior military and also have a Secret security clearance. But oh well. Hopefully I can take care of my traffic ticket and get my license reinstated soon.

I dislike the Walmart job. Overnight stock really sucks. I don't recommend that job unless you can't find another one. Plus it takes me almost a half hour to drive one way. If you have ever been there at night, it's a damn sea of pallets, which is never ending. Also, "zoning" sucks. You have to rotate the stuff from the rear to the front, and fix the messes on the shelf that customers leave you. That job is definitely the lowest on the totem pole. When I started working there, I was told that there were no other positions, but they have hired people since, like cashiers and supervisors. Not only that, it turned out that the job they offered me is for Walmart "Market", which is a frigging grocery store. If I wanted to work for one, there are at least 5 others in the town I live in. I can't wait until my 6 months is up, so I can transfer to the other store closer to where I live.

That brings me to the other job I wish I didn't have - the National Guard. It depends on your supervisor if you have a decent time or not. It's been okay for me since the old supervisors left. One acted like an asshole to me, and the other didn't really care about me or what I was going through at the time, so I got a bad evaluation report from them. Ever since my depression last year, I haven't passed my run. So I may be demoted soon. I don't really care. I'm apathetic about it because it's become a chore to go there, and it messes up my sleep schedule.

Other than work, I play games mostly. I have a huge collection that keeps me preoccupied. I also like to get seasons of television shows and watch them. Most recently, I finally watched the third season of Sparticus. It was so good. I can't wait to see the sequel to 300 soon. I also found the Transformers Season 1 on sale for $15, so this weekend will be a good time to relive some childhood memories.

Other than that, life is pretty boring. There's not a whole lot to do if you live in Indiana. I really wish I could find a decent girl again. It seems that the older you get, the less options you have at finding someone to love. Especially at 35. You're too old for women in their 20's, and 40+ feels a little too old for me. Not to mention that everyone seems to have somebody or a family already. You try to talk to someone in public, and they look at you funny.

Anyway, have a great weekend everybody! I'll try to get to some of these other BaD's read this weekend when I finally have a day off.

Yeah I know how you feel about the dating thing.  It's even more difficult when you have a disability that keeps you from driving a car, so you don't get out as much.

Ouch. That sucks, man! Good guys like us are out there, but it seems like some women only want 6 foot and athletic. Especially on dating sites.

Yeah, in Texas that problem starts even younger, since people marry younger.

My friend actually asked a girl out and found out she was married (we're in our early/mid 20s, so was she). His response: "well shit, I guess we're checking hands now."

You sound busy.

Ha. Well, I always check hands when I'm checking a girl out. Some are just flirty because they aren't fulfilled at home. I don't need that nonsense/ drama.

What kind of Guard unit are you in? My dad was in an artillery unit - the 50th Armored - for almost 20 years. I grew up climbing on the howitzers and learned geometry and trig from my dad teaching me how to aim (on paper only!).

I'm with you on zoning. I think its the same in every big box store. I was glad not to be doing overnights at Target when I worked there.

I'm in the 113th Support Battalion. Our unit is made up of a few infantry companies and a headquarters. There's a handy dandy map of guard units and areas covered in the state by whom. But honestly, zoning isn't all that bad, except when you have to do cans or frozen foods. I really hate those aisles.
