In which Vice City aged poorly, Destiny goes on, I kill Orcs and Street Fighter IV is given another chance.

As I type this, I've downloaded the Ultra update for Super Street Fighter IV (360). I've cleared some space on my hard drive to accomdate for reinstalling the game (from disc). I can't fucking believe it but I'm actually giving this one another shot. Yes, it has to do with the big news about SFV coming to PS4 in the future. That Ultra SFIV will be on the way didn't inspire me to wait for that release. While I didn't stay committed to truly remaining good, I've always admired SFIV. I always thought I could pop it in and play for a little while. I didn't count on the many distractions that life threw my way. Despite that, I felt the need to support the game: upgrading to Super, then Arcade Edition and now finally to Ultra.

I'm extremely rusty so I'll probably go back to Super SF II Turbo HD Remix to reacquaint myself with some basics. I don't know if I'll play much online but I want to have some idea of what the hell I'm doing before that happens. I mentioned this previously but I'm playing these games on 360, so if anyone reading this plays these games and wants to play online some time, let me know.

In my last blog, I stated that I bought a few ot the GTA games (on a lark, it feels): Vice City, San Andreas and IV from a PSN sale. I've downloaded Vice City and have played that a bit but I fear that I may not stick with it. The obvious offenders are the gun-aiming and driving controls; they're abysmal. The voice acting is still top notch and I like the look of the city.

Still on Destiny. I've recently hit Level 29 and have bought the expansion. It's not the big jump in content that many were expecting but I think that Bungie's idea of an expansion is more akin to a content patch. Even with its shortcomings, I still enjoy the game and am invested. If I didn't have friends to play with every weekend, I'm not sure how long I'd last as a regular player. Past the 2nd expansion in February, who knows what Bungie is going to do content wise. Fingers crossed but this may be a case of "proof of concept" and the real deal may be the sequel.

Bought Shadow of Mordor during Thanskgiving break and its shaping up to be one of my favorite games of the year. An excellent blend of LOTR lore (heavily dependent on the films visually), Assassin's Creed movement and stealth (in its best implementation of course) and Batman Arkham-style combat, this one has snuck up on me. The Nemesis system has me hating on Orcs more than ever but eager to see how I'll deal with them. Just a solid title overall.

Still need to finish Wolfenstein: The New Order. I complicated things by buying Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for the PS4 but that can wait. Gamefly sent me The Last of Us Remastered so I want to see how that looks for next gen. Maybe I'll stick with it for longer than I did Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (a really good game but not big enough a difference for me play through it again).

On my Vita, I've beat the 3rd boss in Rogue Legacy so now I'm confident in exploring the dungeon section but still getting my ass kicked. I'll continue to gold farm so I can fill up the upgrades and then I'll launch an assault. I've also played Luftrausers a lot. The controls took some getting used to but the upgrades I've got so far have given me a fighting chance. I like the look of the world, too. A nice little pick-up-and-play title.

I plan to see the new Hobbit film but I'm not sure if I'll go this weekend or see it over Christmas vacation with my mom and sister. Till then I've got some rentals to go through and I need to finish season 3 of Chuck.

If I don't post again before Christmas, I hope that everyone here has a Merry Christmas!

I think that one of the big things that will help the inevitable Destiny sequel is the fact that Bungie will not be developing for the PS3 and 360.  I also think that they will be able to pull out all the big guns for the sequel as well, and we will end up with the game that everbody was thinking Destiny was going to be.  I wish I could put it down...  5 days, 19 hours.

I have a much bigger problem with shooting controls than driving controls in both III and Vice City. Need to see The Hobbit as well.

Merry Christmas!

I loved flying the planes in San Andreas.  I would turn on the 1st person camera, and just fly around the landscape for hours....

I have GTA V now, but I feel like I'm never going to actually play it. I got it because a friend talked about it so much and I wanted to fly the blimp. Now I don't know. Well, it'll stay in my collection anyway.

I'm still debating if I should go out and buy Ultra SFIV or just DL the patch since I got the game thanks to GwG. We'll see

Do the police still charge you while your emptying your mac-10 into them in those games? never cared for that.

I'm still getting friends trying to convice me to get a new gen system to try this game, but after teh recent Xmas attacks on XBL/PSN, I'm glad I didn't spend money on an online only title.

Need to play SoM. And wolfenstien should be finished. Not one for killing nazis during the holidays but...

I couldn't tell if police response was any different due to the fact that I couldn't seem to accurately aim my gun at any one. Sometimes I'll get busted by a cop (that I didn't know about) just for entering the vehicle outside my hotel. The more I think about it I think Vice City was a game of its time and nothing more.

The recent DDoS attacks isn't anything anyone can control or prevent until the authorites round up these pricks. People were bitching at Sony or Microsoft for supposedly "faulty" online services or infrastructures but the truth is that DDoS attacks can affect anyone, anytime, anywhere. And those services are back up (for some its an ongoing process). And there are games you can play offline on the next-gen systems.

Speaking of which, SoM is really better on next-gen due to the Nemesis System which isn't available on PS3/360 versions.
