Haha, yeah. I've been on a little bit of a retro kick lately since I found a SNES Mini on ebay. My original collection got taken in the divorce, so I want to rebuild some of it. This younger generation of bro gamers can have their Xbones and PS4000's. I'll play the Super any day of the week lol.
I couldn't agree more. I was thinking of doing a follow up blog next week, highlighting the emulation scene and virtual console machines.
I thought CE was pretty decent. Have you played the FINAL version? That's the one that I played. The FF VI repros that I have seen so far are the Eternal Crystals and Ages hacks. I think there's another one out there, but my research hasn't turned up anything on it yet. I think that the modding community will get there eventually. But I think it will take someone with programming knowledge to figure out the code to VI and build an editor before any substancial changes can be made to that game. The game was put together in a very sloppy way from what I heard. Anyway, I'm still keeping a watch on the subject. Maybe one day the people that do homebrew can bust that game open and put out something good like the folks over at insanedifficulty dot com. =)
Well, sites like coolrom dot com aren't all that bad. They have a ton of files for retro games up to the sixth generation consoles. Personally, I don't agree with pirating the current generation of systems either, but for the discontinued systems, it's worth it for the video game community to take charge in that regard. It's definitely a grey area for sure. I really don't think they should be outlawed.
Mine too. Setzer was a kind of low tier in that game, but one of my favorite characters. It's too bad that the game was one of the last great 2D RPG's. One day, I hope a dedicated fan makes a sequel to it. Maybe when the fans can catch up to the technology and make a great homebrew mod like Crimson Echoes. That is my dream, anyway. heh
That's true! It's common knowledge these days. Your posts are pretty entertaining to read, btw. heh
I just want to clarify that FF II and III never appeared on the NES. They were only for the Famicom. That's why Squaresoft retitled FF IV and FF VI for the SNES - they had no plans at the time to release them in English. =D
That link is to the actual iso downloads... Hope you don't get in trouble. =D
I love the Mvs.C and Soul Calibur series, it's just that I really suck at them. I always have to play on the easiest setting, and almost never win on multiplayer or online. heh
