My future game 1: Some story

Posted on 04/14/2013 at 03:39 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Thanks Ben! This has all been built up from a dream in 7th grade, and the dream itself was grounded in reality a lot, taking place in my town, places I knew intimately, etc. I've pulled bits and pieces from different things over the years, compiling it into what I'd like the story to be. Some time travel and paradox-avoidance from a book called Bunker 10, character growth and the soul from Fullmetal Alchemist, the exploration of regular emotions and their extremes from a book called Dark Angel, and very recently I got the buyout thing from a mixture of our economy and hearing about the manga Dance in the Vampire Bund, where a vampire princess is given a Japanese island since she used her family's wealth to pay off Japan's debt. I had been struggling for a while on how to have The Kingdom rise to power, and this seemed like the most reasonable way.

And Ben, whenever I get my studio up off the ground, even when it's just a few people, you have an open invitation to join it! I've seen your writing and artistry, and would be more than happy to have you assist! And I think you'd enjoy Central Illinois, haha!

Thanks Lee! I have tried reviews once or twice before on 1up, but the only games I feel compelled to review are ones I love, and then I feel like it'd be a REALLY biased review, haha.

Glad to have inspired you, TK! And thanks for the advance advance purchase, bahaha! Rest assured too, that there are many more twists than I can list here without completely spoiling the game, and those will remain a secret until the game will be released someday! I'm hoping I can get it out before the PS4 life-cycle would end, and although it won't reach as large an audience, I will have it be a Sony exclusive, just because, from research I've done, it is much easier and less frustrating to develop for the Playstation than for the Xbox, and i'm trying to not blow a bunch of money, so won't hire a port team. The studio I hope to start up is meant to be a small one, largely made up of people I know.

its understandable you haven't read it all yet, haha. That's fine, I know i went kinda (ok, really) long on this, especially for a first blog! I do have a problem with keeping things simple, at least with this story, because it will end up involving "multiple main characters" (that's one of the things I don't want to reveal ever, as it's a huge plot twist for the first two) and time travel elements. Luckily, I have quite a long time to get it all refined, as I still have at least 4 years of college left, and then will probably have to make small games first in order to get money to use as a budget for this.

And thanks for the clarification on the M-rated thing. Just wanted to make sure! Rest assured, there will be no X-rated stuff, especially since people such as my church family, my family, and my girlfriend can all find this page by googling me, haha! But the games won't ever have any X-rated stuff =)

This one is for Dave. Thanks 4 the psp, brotha!

It'll actually have to wait a bit, sadly. My girlfriend drew the two characters I have so far, but she doesn't want me showing them until she has them colored, which she needs to get done still. I may still try to get a bit of a story blog up though, and maybe save the drawings for a character one! I'll decide sometime tonight, haha!

Welcome to the family Brother Ben. Soon you shall be delving further into the Playstation community, mwahahahahaha!

Nice to see you're still making progress on your game! I look forward to trying it out =) I'm also about to put a blog together about my game, and how it's slowly coming together. I'd love to especially get your input, as a fellow designer-in-training! I'm about to work on it now!

DmC: Devil May Cry

Ok, I'll definitely look into trying DmC then. The original Neptunia is still my favorite, because I like the combat in that one the most, but Victory is great just like the entire series. The only thing I dislike is, since there is SO MUCH MORE dialogue in the game, it feels like there's less dubbed audio, even though it's equal to the last game. NISA should make enough money from these to dub more lines, I would think. I do like Iris Heart though, because even with how perverted I can be, some of her stuff even makes me shudder, although I don't know if it's from a sense of "wtf" or a "i'd like that".

Thanks for the info on the refund, I'll make sure to check it when I get home from school and church tonight!

I feel like Microsoft is honestly going to fail this next generation. The biggest problem they have, is they don't know how to keep their products seperate. Sony is very good about keeping Playstation things on Playstation, camera things on cameras, tv things for tvs, etc. But Microsoft... oh boy, first 360 gets influences from Windows, then Windows draws on the 360 home screen with all its weird boxes for Windows 8... And none of their stuff is really all that reliable anymore. I know I'm sticking with Sony come the next gen (albeit, I am somewhat of a fanboy. But when you have Neptunia, inFamous, Ratchet, Sly Cooper, Uncharted... I can't help but fan), and I hope whenever you will step into the next gen like everyone else, be it at launch or 4 years down the road, that you'll get a PS4 too, and then we can have some killer multiplayer fun!

Glad you enjoyed it Kay! I've never really been much of a DmC person, but since you mentioned the demon and angel thing, it makes me think of something I want to make. Alas, nothing is original anymore, but that can be good! I'm really enjoying seeing some series get reboots, even if I don't play them, such as DmC and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.

I'm glad to hear you haven't gotten your $10 back from the PSN yet either, because I bought Totori, and then I know I spent another $10 on oddball stuff during the promotion time, and was wondering if something messed up. I need some spare change for Neptunia DLC! Hope you're enjoying that too!

Guilty Pleasures: Female characters

Your question about the housewives? Simple answer: double standards. Feminists want to make women equal to men, except for things that they can use to their advantage. Want men to stop ogling your breasts? Don't wear push-up bras or shove them right next to our face when we're sitting at the desk. The list goes on. I'd have to say my list of super sexy females would be Noire, Vert, and Nepgear (Hello Chris Hansen. I'd like to play a little game...) from Hyperdimension Neptunia, May and White from Pokemon (May isn't pedophilia, cause if there's a "10 year old" with a rack to rival fully grown women, she's not freakin' 10), Juliet Starling (my only really "muscular" female on the list), and a few others I can't think of at the moment. But needless to say, I highly agree with you statement of pedophilia really being an attraction to prepubescent girls. As I joke often, with my girlfriend being 15: "If nature says she's ready, she's ready!" (And no, FBI, I haven't done anything with her. It is a joke. Go find some extremists.)
