Ah! Heaven Review

The debate about the existence of Purgatory has been resolved! You can experience it yourself for an affordable 200 DSi Shop Points.

Boy, since jumping in video games is a lot of fun, it’s gotta be really great to play a whole game that lets you just jump, jump, jump all the way to Heaven!  Ducking? Pshhhhh.  Shooting?  Lame.  Variety?  Pass.  All we want is that sweet, sweet jumping!  These and other idiotic statements must have been scrawled down during some malformed focus group of imbeciles when the developers of Ah! Heaven were doing preliminary planning for their amazingly boring platformer.

Splitting Down The Middle – Mario Mania #5

Good-bye 2-D platforming, hello 3-D polygons and analogue sticks.

The Nintendo 64 emerged in 1996 as one of the most powerful consoles of its time, producing 3-D visuals that not even the Playstation or Sega Saturn could produce. At a time when franchises were attempting (and often failing) to make the jump to 3-D, along came Super Mario to save the day yet again.

Pushmo Review

All this pushing and pulling reminds me of another Nintendo puzzle game or two…

Pushmo, the first 3DS digital download title from Intelligent Systems, could easily be mistaken for an Art Style game, which are found by the dozen on the Wii and DS shops. Like those games, it takes a simple premise (puzzle-platforming) and graphics and makes an extremely in-depth and meaty experience. The result is one of the best eShop titles available right now, deserving of a download from all 3DS owners.

Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension Review

You'll have to trust me: it's a much better game than its handheld counterpart.

At first blush, it's easy to see a bit of Ratchet & Clank in the latest Phineas and Ferb adventure, which is based around the most recent movie Across the 2nd Dimension. This is due in part to the past experience of developer High Impact Games, which is comprised of ex-Insomniac Games and ex-Naughty Dog members. Despite offering a taste of the beloved Sony series, the game stops short of completely aping it to provide a more family-friendly experience that captures the own charm of the Phineas and Ferb series. While it's not going to reach the Ratchet and Clank crowd, it's still a great game for the target demographic of the show.

Disney Universe Hands On Preview

Jason Ross stopped by the extravagant Disney Interactive booth to play a bit of the upcoming multiplatform title, Disney Universe.

Let me begin by saying the Disney Interactive booth was most certainly one of the most expansive booths at all of E3 this year. There were two main sections aside from the meeting areas, and they were some of the most elaborate and colorful E3 areas here. On one side, was a Phineas and Ferb coffee house, where Disney elected to give away free flavored coffee. Don't ask me how it was, I don't drink coffee, sorry! The other side was made to look like the interior of a house: There was a kitchen, with custom Mickey Mouse and Disney magnets, a computer area, where E3 guests could try out a Disney computer title or two, and then a living room-type area, where Cars 2, Disney Universe, and a few other titles were on display.

DS and PSP N+ Servers Down for Good

With the closing of SilverBirch Studios, and the game being declared a financial failure by Atari, players will no longer be able to enjoy multiplayer or level sharing.

When SilverBirch Studios closed doors earlier this year, the servers for N+ on the DS and PSP were also turned off. Atari has been attempting to recover this data and return the servers to their former glory, however it appears the data is now gone for good.
