Thorium Wars: Attack of the Skyfighter Review

It ain't no Star Fox, that's for sure.

Upon initially investigating the Thorium Wars sequel, I found myself quite excited by what was on display in the eShop teasers. It appeared to take inspiration from both Rogue Squadron and Star Fox; two series I have much adoration for. Unfortunately, after taking it for a spin it doesn’t even come close to matching its source inspiration.

Steamworld Dig: A Fistful of Dirt Review

I still really dig this game!

It’s been roughly a year since SteamWorld Dig first hit the scene on the 3DS eShop. Now, Nintendo fans can experience the game on the Wii U in full 1080p HD, with some exclusive content. If you didn’t catch it, I had an opportunity to review the game when it released last year and I absolutely adored it. Digging back through the mines on the Wii U has only solidified the strong love I already felt for the game.

Tomba! 2 Review

A nostalgic memory lost in translation.

The only reality worse than the inflated asking pricing for an old video game is the one where said game is digitally available for a fraction of the price, but devoid of the context that made it fun to play.  Such is the peculiar situation I found myself in upon downloading Tomba 2: The Evil Swine Return (The Wild Adventures in Japan) from the PlayStation Store. Originally released in 1999 by the now-defunct Whoopee Camp, it was re-released earlier this year by Monkey Paw Games.  Once the game booted up, it was both recognizable and unfamiliar at the same time. The game looks and plays the same as I remembered, but there was just one problem--it’s all in Japanese.

Who Would Win?

Chameleon's Chaos

Welcome back to the second installment of Who Would Win!

Last week we featured a brutal brawl between a Handyman and a Big Daddy, with Big Daddy seeming to take a majority of the votes. This week, however, we will be showcasing two unique individuals who specialize in different forms of stealth-related combat. In one corner we have Sam Fisher who is extremely proficient with numerous weapons as well hand-to-hand combat, with shadows and light being his own personal form of camouflage. In the other corner is the deadly Agent 47 who is also incredibly talented with many firearms and uses clothing and costumes to blend into any environment.

The Death of a Titan

What the cancellation of Project Titan means to Blizzard and us.

After seven years of development, Blizzard decided to officially pull the plug on their mysterious Project Titan; what many assumed was to be the successor to the king of all MMORPGs, World of Warcraft.  Since Titan was never officially announced, it’s doubtful that the game ever made it past the conceptual state, though we will likely never know how many resources had been dedicated to the project, or if it was ever even close to becoming anything more than vaporware.

Nerds Without Pants Episode 54: You, Me, and the ESRB

This episode was rejected by Wal Mart because of its AO rating.

Backloggers Anonymous Final Fantasy X Finale

Featuring fan made music!

No... Not fans of Backloggers (although that would be nice) I decided since the FFX soundtrack is already world famous, I'd throw in some fan made versions of some of the music. If you like what you hear, they're all from YouTube. I'll post the links so you can hear the songs in their entirety.

Wooden Sen'SeY Review

Let me axe you a question.

Wooden Sen’Sey is one of those unfortunate games that has charm and style and comes so close to greatness, but sadly falls short. The abundance of quality platforming games on the Wii U makes it hard to turn a blind eye to the faults of Wooden Sen’Sey. Simple shortcomings like awkward controls (particularly for grappling), levels that overstay their welcome, and a lack of new abilities really drag down an otherwise great experience.
