Square Enix announced today that they plan to publish Scarygirl on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC. Appearing as soon as January 18 on XBLA, with a January 24 PSN release to follow, players will be able to action-platform with the titular, tentacle-armed protagonist. Scarygirl is haunted by bad dreams and sets out on a quest to determine their meaning.
Firaxis states the new title is already in the works.
XCom is a franchise that, until two years ago, many assumed was dead and gone. In 2010, however, longtime fans rejoiced at headlines that revealed a new title was in the works. In most cases, though, this excitement only lasted as long as it took to read the article under those headlines, which revealed that this latest entry would actually be a first person shooter instead of an overhead strategy game. As expected, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been a massive success for Activision. Like past installments, the game has grossed in the billions; however, Modern Warfare 3 has managed to reach the mark faster than any other. In just 16 days, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has made $1 billion. This surpasses a record set by James Cameron's 2009 film Avatar, which grossed $1 billion in 17 days. This data is according to Charttrack and retail customer information.
Microsoft's problems with the new dashboard continue.
As the new dashboard for the Xbox 360 is introduced to millions of gamers, some changes are upsetting users. IGN is reporting that the Party feature in the Netflix app is no longer there. This feature used to allow Xbox Live subscribers to hang out with their friends' Avatars while watching a movie or show on Netflix. Microsoft offered this statement about the feature's removal:
