Sid Meier’s Civilization Makes History: “Baba Yetu” First Piece of Music Written for Videogame to be Nominated for Grammy Award

In a gaming first according to 2K Games, the song 'Baba Yetu' for Sid Meyer's Civilization IV has been nominated for the Grammy Award “Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists”. It was composed by Christopher Tin and also released on his full album titled 'Calling All Dawns'. The album received a Grammy nomination for “Best Classical Crossover Album.”

WiiWare Demos Available November 22

Nintendo plans to relaunch the WiiWare demo service this Monday and this time it appears to be staying.

After a year-long hiatus, WiiWare Demos are finally making a comeback. There are four planned titles ready for a launch this Monday: BIT.TRIP FATE, And Yet It Moves, ThruSpace and Jett Rocket. The service also appears to be back for good this time around as the e-mail Nintendo sent out this morning states that "additional demos will be added on Mondays and each will remain available on the Wii Shop Channel for a limited time". Great news for those curious about current titles.

New Dance Dance Revolution Songs and Features Revealed

New songs for the next DDR game, simply called DanceDanceRevolution, have been announced by Konami including tracks by Ke$ha, Paramore, Sean Paul, Train and Lady Gaga.

Konami is set to bring the heat to the dance floor later this week with the release of a new DDR title. Called DanceDanceRevolution, the game will feature a total of 50 tracks across various genres of music. Konami states that there will be about 20 licensed songs from popular artists including Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance", Train's "Soul Sister", Jordan Spark's "Battlfield", and "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge. The rest are expected to be composed of Konami Originals.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Outsells Modern Warfare 2

Black Ops beat out Modern Warfare 2 day one sales. Set to surpass Modern Warfare 2's five day sales record.

Many claimed it couldn't be done by a non-Modern Warfare title, but the new Call of Duty: Black Ops has outperformed last years Modern Warfare 2 in day one sales by nearly a million copies. Last year Modern Warfare sold 4.7 million, while yesterday, Black Ops managed to sell an impressive 5.6 million copies. This was an estimated sell through rate of $360 million - a $50 million difference above what Modern Warfare 2 pulled in before.

Bethesda Hits the $300 Million Jackpot in Vegas

Fallout: New Vegas Ships 5 Million copies and stores are already placing orders for more. Physical and digital sales combined are over $300 million.

Today Bethesda Softworks announced something unsurprising: New Vegas, the latest release in the Fallout series sold a lot of copies. Combined numbers of the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions shipped-to-date is recorded at 5 million. You can write off those numbers as 'shipped' versus sold, but Bethesda has already received numerous requests for new shipments from their retail partners.

Rock Band 3 Review

Harmonix has officially left the Guitar Hero series in the dust.

Harmonix continues to impress with their latest mainline entry of the Rock Band series. Rather than revolutionizing the genre through complete and total change, they have managed to keep the same general structure while adding the brand new Pro mode that brings players closer than ever to truly playing the instrument they are emulating. As a matter of fact, if players choose to take on the Expert variant of Pro mode, they will actually be truly playing the exact notes that comprise the song. Couple this with keyboard support and an eclectic set list and you have the best rhythm game available on the market.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock Review

I hate to say it, but Telephantasm is the best part of the whole package.

At this point, the Guitar Hero series has undoubtedly overstayed its welcome. While the series saw some definite innovation in its transition from 3 to World Tour, and moderately so from World Tour to 5, Warriors of Rock brings almost nothing to the table. Sure there's a new track list and they added the mediocre Quest Mode, but the only thing that truly stands out is the Quickplay + Mode that began in the last iteration of the series.
