PixlTalk Episode 27, Side B: Cool Hwhip

We learn Nate is obsessed with saying "Cool Hwhip" in this half of episode 27. Oh, and there's a lot of video game talk, too.

Side B of Episode 27 begins with the third page of reader mail, literally. There's a "Ding" at the beginning, and Nate turns the page.

Stacking Review

Another fantastic title from the unique minds at Double Fine.

Marking their second downloadable title for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, Double Fine’s Stacking provides a one-of-kind, full-fledged experience. Similar in some ways to Take Two’s Space Station Silicon Valley on the N64, players take on the quest of a Matroyshka doll that can stack into other dolls of increasing size. Through this unique mechanic, players can explore the landscape, solve puzzles in a variety of ways, and complete a menagerie of other tasks. This unique gameplay makes for one of the best titles in Double Fine’s catalog and a solid purchase for anyone looking for something unique.

Bust-a-Move Universe Review

Bust-A-Move on over to the Snood website to get a better game.

Although the Bust-A-Move series has been around for seventeen years, I had never played a single game until yesterday, with the release of Bust-A-Move Universe. After spending some quality time with the game I walked away extremely underwhelmed, and was left sorely missing a game I had wasted plenty of time with back in the day when I should’ve been studying: Snood.

Splatterhouse Review

Namco should've left this series back in the '90s.

Back in 1988, Namco both developed and produced the sidescrolling beat ‘em up horror title, Splatterhouse. The game was considered so violent at the time that a special parental advisory warning was slapped on the packaging, even though the game had been drastically toned down for Western audiences. Recently Namco Bandai has resurrected the series, reimagining the once controversial title for modern gamers. Unfortunately, the end result is nothing more than a bland, mindless beat ‘em up riddled with issues that no amount of gore or nostalgia could compensate for.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta Review

Another quality addition to the popular series that sticks closely to its tried-and-true formula.

This year has been a big one for God of War fans, with the release of the highly anticipated third edition of the series, God of War III, and now a brand new adventure, Ghost of Sparta. The new title features a great story that offers some rare insight into Kratos' background, driving forward a fast-paced quality adventure that the series is known for. Though the title is a bit short and doesn't expand upon the usual God of War formula, die-hard fans will undoubtedly be thrilled by the familiar experience.

Fable III Review

Whether choosing to be good or evil, Fable III offers a solid quest, immersion, and plenty of variety.

I don't have much experience with Fable, other than three hours of unimpressed play with the very original. So for all intents and purposes I went into my playtime with Fable III completely unhindered by any past biases, and I must admit, I loved what I found. The gameplay is a wonderful combination of varied experiences that allow players to explore a torn world in any way they desire. There's dozens of quests to take on, hundreds of people to meet, an unbelievably expansive and diverse universe to explore, and a great combat system. Best of all, those aspects are simply scraping the surface of why Fable III is an unbelievable experience from beginning to…well, right before it ends.
