1up where gamers called home

To my friends and those of you who I may not have met at 1up. To reflect on what we've seen and done there it just is an intangible thing that we feel we are losing, to some it can be related to that graduating year from High School, where you just know things are going to be different and you will likely lose contact with some of those people you knew and care about. Unfortunately time has a way of being both something to look forward to looking a head, and destructive looking backwards.

I am glad we found another small community here in Pixlbit that really seams to carry the torch that 1up.com did in its golden days. To me, 1up wasn't a website or even the articles that made it up. It was an amazing community of people, no matter staff or simple blogger, and really it was hard to tell the two titles apart in a lot of respects. I can say I game with 90% 1up people I met over the years, and its been influencial in my gaming experience going forward. I realize though that, with the closing of 1up, its somthing special that I hold because it still invokes my younger days of reading EGM, strategy guides that were like absurdly crazy road maps, just to sort out how to play some of the most challenging games I ever did play.

With everything said and done, Pixlbit, you look promising, and no in the "oh I like your website design" way, but in terms of being a small community of people that with time will grow to be the way they were on 1up. People that not only read each others blogs, but game with each other, and are there for each other in tough times. To quote BBT, "I like homeostasis"  in atleast some things I do, sometimes its hard to break that cycle, that routine. But with a broken routine comes a chance to grow, an oppertunity to meet new people, and a chance at greatness! Here is to a new beginning!

This place does have a nice cozy comfortable feel to it. Not too big and loud. I think we 1UP Refugees have found us a new home.

Go to a person's profile and above their avatar is an X and click on it to follow that person.

hey. If you click on somebody's avatar on the right side of the page it says followers. There is a little line that says "follow" right underneath the followers box. Click on that and you can follow people.

It's a new beginning. Graduating HS is a good analogy I think. Sure, it kind of hurts to leave but new adventures & experiences await! At least we have a second home now!

Much agreed! I am glad you set your moving stuff down here! You and quite a few othes were really the heart of 1up. Now we brought that with us!

Well, that heart has many facets like a jewel and I am just one of those facets. It's good so many people migrated with me. I'd feel lonely and out of place otherwise!

Yeah, without the ppl, its just a hollow feeling of emptniess, and a website/gamer site is just that. I am glad to see this is where we go, its like the first day in the dorms at college! NO one knows how it will turn out, but you find friends and make your own! Before long you have fond memories of your old home, but find that your new home suits you just fine :)
