A Community Game Night?

So back in the older days of 1up we would do community game nights! some were official, and others were not. I remember this being my favorite thing about 1up because it took people who blogged, and forum members and put them into the mix of actually socializing (I know, that much geek in 1 place is terrifying!).

Anywho, I was wondering if some of the recently dsiplaced people and already existing people here were interested in that sort of deal? I would even be willing to dust off my PS3, update its firmware and find a few decent massive games to play! My best memories of those game nights were with Halo:Reach, Gears of War 2 and BFBC2! The reason those games were picked was because we could fit the most people into the games together. Honestly I am at a bit of a loss when it comes to picking titles, but my recollection of those nights with some of the people I still game with today, were just great times.

What do you all think? Any game preferences? or?

absolutely dude, not sure what we'd play but I guess I could invest in what everyone else plays!

I am game for about anything, I've got or am willing to pick up games for either system or see how this runs and go with the flow! Most community game nights on 1up were Halo or CoD just because the games were big an accomodating. I also remember ModNation Racers night for PS3 people.

I think a good old game of gears of war would be fantastic (horde mode is win) set up a few games and try to keep things going like that so people can meet and greet! have to see what others think, and the staff thinks!

the staff here at Pixlbit has actually been talking about this. With so many new members here on the site we'd love to set up some game nights to get to know everyone, and most importantly play some games!!

Count me in.  I think that is a great idea.  I wasn't around at 1up when you did it before, but it sounds like a lot of fun.

Gaming night, I would go for some left 4 dead 2 but that seems like a impossibility theses days.

This is the best way to play online game imo. Some of the clubs on 1Up would have some pretty sweet ones. They're just so dang hard to plan with so many busy schedules. But when they work out it's great!

yeah I am interested in this, but I don't know what games to play.  If Dragon Quest X was out, like asrealasitgets suggests, I would be totally there.

I'm not "up to date" with all the most recent popular multi-player games out there. However, this will change as prices drop and I add more gems to my collection. I don't know why I don't have Gears Of War 3 already. It boggles my mind! I may eventually get Halo 4 as well though truth be told, I'm not the biggest Halo fanboy out there.

I doubt it has to be something new! I am fairly sure the old community set up had Gears of War 2 as something we played well after its prime for sheer size! I would also grab a copy of L4D2, which is really old! lots of the older games are where its at!

If you end up on ps3 you can count me in. I have wanted to find a large crew to roam the street of need for speed most wanted, but burnout paradise would be fun as well. As for shooters, call of duty or uncharted. I  haven't tapped the assassins creed multiplayer and never got into metal gear solid the way that I would have liked online. If those were fun days with this community, it might just work.

im pretty much down for whatever.

We'll have to figure out a good date and time to do it! I have some titles, I would be willing to invest some capital into some older PS3 titles that are big enough for fun! Its likely we'll be looking at a zombie night though :p oh and with that said, looking into how netflix movie work over the shared service on MS (and I think Sony) with people :p

I've been meaning to play Peace Walker on PS3, but due to the reliance on coop, I've hesitated to take it on. Stupid boss fights ruining my metal gear!

I would love to, but same problem now as back then: I haven't kept up with the times and online gaming. When I buy a new system, though, or a gamin-ready PC, or get a Steam account, I'd be more than happy to join.

Fantastic, it sounds pretty resounding that there is a great interest! I will look into games that can host several people, and on top of that some that are older and easier on the pocket book!
