NEW STUFFS!~In today's blog, The Original Ser talks about  work, a Game Boy and catalogging a lot of games.

*****

PixlBit has a pretty nifty collection thingie that I've been totally using since I got on board. The only trouble is that with over 1200 games, this is going to take a bit of effort, almost more than I've got. Granted, today's a bust anyways. since I work at 6:15 tonight. That's something that's always been a bit odd to me. It always feels, no matter the length or start time of a shift, that any shift on any day makes the day not as good as it could be. Like, I could go out and do stuff in the morning, but I'd be wasted for the shift at night. On the other hand, if i worked in the morning, I'd just come home and do nothing, because I'd have no will to do anything after dealing with the unreasonable public. And corporate BS. But that's aother topic. But yeah, I'm not even sure how I got so many games to begin with, other than wanting to be completely console neutral.

But that kinda failed with the PS3 and Xbox 360 on account of how stupid Xbox Live can be. Why should I pay again use Netflix? I'm already paying for netflix! And YouTube too! If the PS4 ends up charging some sort of subscription to use Netflix or YouTube, I'mma buy a new PC mini-tower, hook it up to my TV and use that instead. Whatup.

Anyway, I've got somthing like 440 games over 10 systems cataloged in my collection so far, with the highest count at the moment weighing in with the DS at over 130 games. Most of it is handheld stuff, but I managed to remember all of my Saturn games and my TG-16 and PC Engine collection is up in there. I still have at least three "megaton" systems to do, including PS2, SNES and Game Boy. Also, I've noticed that there are no selections for Wonderswan of Neo-Geo anything on the systems list.I may have to make a quick suggestion on that. For now, they're under GBA and GBC respectively, since those were the times basically that they were releases alongside Nintendo's handheld market murder machines.

Speaking of handhelds, I recently had the urge to play some Game Boy Advance the other night. I figured, "Well, I might was well bust open a new GBA SP. Why not?"

yeah boi

So I did. I was pretty astonished at how good it felt. The hinge on it was nice and tight, and didn't wobble like my old red one. The battery was dead, so I ended up having to charge it a bit before I got going. I dunno, I might retire it to its box after its single use. It is the NES version, after all.

I also recently (around xmas time) picked up a PSP 3000 for like $50.00 at The Source (formerly Radio Shack) and I've been tooling around with a few games on there. I'm looking to start R-Type Command to see how that is. I've been told that it's dumb, but I'm going to save final jugement for when I play, as I always do. And yes, Im aware that it's not a shmup.

But before I get too far into that, I need to somehow talk my wife, Daeruna, into filming Bullet Heaven 65 tonight. She's been hesitant, since we tried and failed twice so far, but the new episode needs doing by the end of this week, so stay tuned for that. Also, we're working on buttons for the Buttoneering thing at this year's PAX East. I have my button more or less planned out and it even falls in line with my theme here on PixlBit. But she's stuck on her's, and doesn't know what to do for it. I'm sure she'll figure it out though. If I can throw one together in five minutes like I did, she can do something way better.

Anyway, with that, my blog for this day is done. I should get ready for some workstuffs.

Ah, the NES GBA. How I envy you! I picked up an SP last year or so that was broken at a flea market and pieced it back together. It ended up not being one of the ones with extra light setting, but it's still good.

I snagged a GB Player recently on eBay and I'm looking forward to playing some old GBA games on a TV and see how they look.

I really want an SP with the good backlit screen. The NES GBA SP was still "frontlit".

The Game Boy Player is a slick little device. Nothing beats laying Mega Man & Bass on a TV where it belongs! Granted, I may still spring for the Super Famicom version...

THe PSP, I need to find one for myself before they get harder to find.

Yeah, they seem to be getting pretty scarce these days. Eb charges too much for them though. $159.99 for a new PSP 2000? Yikes. Then again, used ones are kinda cheap. Not $50 cheap, but close...

I have one of the first SP models, back when the only colors were cobalt or silver. I really wanted one of the red ones, but I didn't want to wait, as I needed a handheld right now because I was going through gaming withdrawal while I was away at a three week law enforcement course. I still have it, it still works, but I've always wanted one of those spiffy pearl blue backlit ones. As for the PSP, geez, I wish I could find a 3000 for $50! Maybe I can get my brother to give me his...

The $50 PSP 3000 was a lucky chance, but I hate the 3000's screen. I'd have preferred the 2000.

But yeah, if I could score one of the black backlit GBA SPs, that would be definitely swell!

Glad you made the transfer safely, mate!

It was a fairly easy transition, honestly. I was never really displaced after joining Press Pause Radio; the blogging "soil" at 1up was just too infertile when I went back  =(

I'm glad as hell I no longer work in the service indusrty, though I may take up weekend shifts at Outback again; I know how you feel.Where do you work that you "get" to deal with the public?

That's one neat looking Game Boy SP, I love that NES controller aesthetic. I have yet to complete logging the games I own, and putting what we used to have (older brother owned the NES, SNES, PS1, and PS2) in my "wish list," but even once that's done I'll have nowhere near as many games as you do! Wow! lol

Due to actual legal issues that would affect my employment (me being official gaming media and all) I can't say where I work, though I'm sure you could guess. But I can neither confirm nor deny anything.

The amount of games I have is fairly ridiculous. I've drastically slowed the progress of the collection to mostly shmups and the occasional new game I'm interested in. Metal Gear Rising will be one such game, but only after PAX East 2013.

As for my SP, it's pretty slick. Not only does it look the part, the NES "panel" where the face buttons have the matte feel of the original NES controller. Extra win!

I recently bought myself a new GBA as well because I stupidly got rid of my original one when I got the DS and had no idea I could not play my GBC games....SO I had to get a new one to play them again.

I actually have fairly few GBC games, but I typically play them on my Game Boy Player. I discovered I had one at work for a buck... maybe I'll snag it to boost the value of my extra Gamecube....
