Here we go with another BrokeLeg Blog!

- This week is Spring Break, and it's my son's first EVER.  He's having a good ol' time just hanging out, playing with his mountain of toys and watching the various animated shows he watches.  I'm stocked and loaded for bear: plenty of Stouffer's French Bread pizzas and a veritable ammo dumps-worth of Capri Sun drinks, so he's wanting for nothing.  He's been mellow through yesterday and today, which is all any parent can really ask for on Spring Break.

- I continue playing Ni No Kuni, mopping up a few errands here and there.  Believe it or not I don't really think the story is anything to write home about.  Save the world, yaddah yaddah yaddah.  The battle system stinks a bit, but lately I've been filling up my bottomless bag with goodies pilfered from baddies via Swaine's mugshot ability.  I also morphed a bunch of familiars into their second forms.  Not sure why I did it, as I don't really use anything but the standard familiars each character gets at the beginning.  The "catchemall fever" doesn't grip me here like it does in the Pokemon games; maybe it has something to do with the randomized nature of catch opportunities.  I'd rather use a poke ball.

- I downloaded Legend Of Mana, Spyro The Dragon, Xenogears and Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night late last night.  After reading the Alundra retro review I keep seeing on Pixlbit's front page I decided that I never gave the original Playstation its due, and that these games are a good starting point to pay homage.  I'm also at a crossroads that I was hoping to get opinions on....should I buy Breath Of Fire IV or Chrono Cross?  How about Chrono Trigger?  Sadly I've never played any of these games, but I want to.  My funding is limited, so I can't go on a mad spree and get all three.  I can afford two of the last three titles I mentioned.

- Another Humble Android Bundle has netted me R-Type II, Bag It and Aralon: Sword & Shadow HD.  I've already loaded Bag It onto my phone, and am gonna give it a whirl shortly.  Maybe a review is in order, on my part....

- I'm nearly done watching Battlestar Galactica, with 3 episodes left.  The heavy drama and posturing by all the cast is beginning to wear thin on me; I liked it much better when the humans and Cylon were enemies.  The first 2 seasons were definitely the high point for this incarnation of the series.  Once I'm done I'm definitely going to check out the spinoff series Caprica.

- I added a few new shows to Netflix Instant Streaming queue yesterday, most notably Terra Nova and Doctor Who.  Terra Nova has dinosaurs in it; I guess it's about a dystopian future that sucks.  Humans have scorched the atmosphere and made it nigh unbreathable, and population control has been imposed, stipulating that no family can have more than 2 kids.  Terra Nova's protagonist family breaks this last rule, and sets the events of the show in motion.  As for Doctor Who....well I don't know what to expect.  It looks like lots of people watch it, so I'm gonna check it out!

Xenogears is so awesome. I have never beat it though, very long game, lol. The battle system is what I like about it, the story is pretty good as well.  In the battle system you create combos and can link them together. Even when you get a mech, it has it's own combos. I need to pull that disc out of storage...

I jumped into Xenogears via my old psp 2 years ago and didnt get very far into it. Gonna give it another whirl after I finish Ni No Kuni

Play Chrono Trigger.

I thought Ni no Kuni was pretty good.  I think it's overhyped though.

Doctor Who is great.  If you let yourself get into it, you'll enjoy it.  I'd begin when the series started up again 2005.  The older episodes are great too, but some of them are a bit dated and slow to get into.

I was leaning toward Chrono Trigger after watching a bunch of YouTube reviews on Chrono Cross.

Chrono Trigger is one of my absolute favorite RPGs of all time. If you haven't played it yet, you should.

i played it via emulation a couple years ago, I believe, but the part where you chase down a mouse or whatnot....that part isn't very conducive to android touch screen inputs.

Chrono trigger and Chrono cross are both great. There's some hate for Chrono Cross just because it's so different from its' predecessor but believe me, it's an awesome rpg that can stand on its' own two legs!

Doctor Who is the sizzle as well!

I'm thinking of getting Trigger.  The art style is the clincher

Spring break came and went a while ago for me, but Thursday through Monday is Easter Break for me.

I need to start watching Doctor Who for the same reasons. I also want to watch Game of Thrones, but I don't like that I have to rent, subscribe to HBO and cable, or do illegal things to get it.

Are you into reading?  Because if you are, I highly recommend reading the Song Of Ice And Fire books before watching them.  I did, and I get sooo much more out of the shows that I would've otherwise.

I also want to watch the new season...but being as I don't have cable and am unwilling to torrent stuff...well, I'm stuck buying GoT by the episode.  It's all good though, I usually wait until an entire season of a show is over before I start watching it =)

I do like reading, but I feel, as all us millenials who probably have too much time on our hands in all reality do, that I just don't have the time between running the radio station and my Master's courses. Truth be told, I could easily handle another job if I didn't treat the radio station like a full time job instead of the part-time graduate assistantship that it is, but I want to leave my mark on it as a manager.

I forgot about the option to buy digitally online, but I often think episodes are somewhat overpriced. It's like $1.99 each on Amazon or iTunes or whatever, yes?

not sure what they cost on those services, bro.  On the PSN, the episodes are 3 bucks a pop, I believe.  Same price on VUDU, as well.

I think I'll just rent from Hastings.

I would have to recomend the Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Both games are classics with a whole lot to like.

I am a Who fanatic.

I have not played Breath of Fire IV yet, but I have played and thoroughly enjoyed both Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.  Just remember that when going into Cross after playing Trigger you need to check your expectations at the door.  Not that Cross is a bad game, it is fanastic, but there are plenty of differences between the game that may turn a fan of Trigger off.

Nice another Humble Bundle buyer. I bought the bundle just for R-Type and Carcassonne, but after watching the videos the game that I will probably spend the most time with is Bag It.

spring break! Woot!

Play that JRPG, make it beg for mercy as you total dominate it. Wait which JRPG is this again?

I wanted to get Xenogears but I'm hoping for a sale on that game, like they did with Chrono Cross/Trigger and Vagrant Story.

Don't do it! You may not be able to tolerate Caprica! They do so many stupid things to get the plot going! Try Blood & Chrome instead, or better yet BSG: Razor, unless you watched that like you were suppose to between seasons.

Matt Smith was the best.
