Bigups to KnightDriver...I sorta stole his blog topic motif.
So today, after I finished up at a job interview, I went to Gamestop and canceled my pre order of Destiny. There's just no staying power there; I thought the game was going to be an awesome mix of RPG and shooter. However it really seems that the RPG elements arent noteworthy or deep enough for my tastes.
Now before you start to bitch and moan about how its still just a beta, I have to say that it's close enough to the release date that we wont see many groundbreaking changes to the gameplay. Its either a game youre gonna like or a game youre gonna avoid- its not going to convert an RPG enthusiast over to the heavy fps gameplay motif. This is just my opinion, of course. I enjoyed it for a solid 5 hours and then moved on. The PvE is far better than the PvP...and like most shooters of our day, PvP will be the meat n taters of Destiny after everybody reaches the lvl 20 cap. Sure, there'll be plenty more to shoot for in PvP...gotta get those faction goodies...but thats just not my thing.
I still had an itch to scratch though; blasting enemies with a high powered rifle.
For that proverbial scratch, I turned back to Borderlands 2...and all its GOTY content. I intend to do a separate blog on this game, so thats all on this gem for now.
I picked up Alpha Protocol and Dragon Age Origins to keep me busy for a couple weeks.

I was really tempted after I had a chance to get some codes for Destiny on PS3, but all this talk of it being a Halo MMO makes me reluctant to try it. I like single player and some co-op. Multiplayer really doesn't interest me much. I went and picked up a second copy of EDF 2025 for my friend and we played that co-op all day. It was a blast.
The EDF games are kickass ....closest thing we got to Starship Troopers video games
I'm enjoying EDF 2025 right now.
Last one I played was 2017. Good times

So Destiny is not like Halo? That's all I want to know.
Its got all the shooter trappings of HALO....but it doesnt have the magic of a focal hero during the campaign. ...and tbh, Peter Dinklage is an uninspired voice actor
Im kind of on the fence about the game myself. Im thinking of going to Gamestop and canceling my preorder for the collectors edition. I still want the white PS4, my sister was getting the copy that came with the system. Worse case ill just sell it if it turns out she doesnt want it.
The white ps4 is badass. Worth getting the package and trading Destiny in.

, well at least you know this about the game now, instead of dropping the 50+ and finding this out the week after you play it. Well hopefully soon after a price drop...or two you might pick it up.
Borderlands 2 is such a fun game. I wish I could play it on the big screen without feeling sick (no problems on the Vita).
