Stratos, Y'all! In the inaugural STRATOS, we take a look at upcoming greatness from Studio Mudprints

Welcome to the first installment of STRATOS, the Studio Mudprints Newsletter.  Whether it's Bullet Heaven, Events, special news or other goings on within Studio Mudprints, this is where you'll get the skinny, with mirrored entries on Press Pause Radio

We have been gearing up for a pair of extraordinary events here at Studio Mudprints. The first is a series of five reviews that will focus on the Dreamcast goodness that has been produced by NG:DEV.TEAM and HuCast games since 2009. Both companies come from Hannover Germany (though HuCast is basically a splinter of NG:DEV) and have released a total of eight awesome shooting games for the Dreamcast, with new titles in development today. Recently, in episode 97 of Bullet Heaven HD, we took a look at the DUX 1.5 Collector's Edition and came away quite impressed, both with the quality of the game and its packaging.

With the success of the review (and very positive feedback from HuCast Games as a result) NG:DEV.Team has seen fit to follow suit and have sent along their entire library for review on Bullet Heaven HD, which will be featured in a five-episode block called Summer Dreams.

SUMMER DREAMS, YO!Still Dreaming!

Summer Dreams will consist of five days of reviews at a rate of one review per day. This ambitious block leads to something even bigger though; our second full shmup-meet, Halifax Scramble S! In the first Halifax Scramble, we were very successful with sponsorship from Rockin' Android and venue space provided by The Last Game Store in Halifax. Scramble S is on track to be even bigger than before, and with backing from HuCast Games and NG:DEV.TEAM for prizes and even a miniature indie-alley with big and small developers bringing their very own games, including Nova Scotia's very own Xona Games of Score Rush and Decimation X fame, Scramble S should be hugely successful as well.

We have other projects on the go as well. It has been tossed around for a while now, but our original web series, Casually Hardcore (or CHC for short,) could very well be a thing very soon, thanks to being inundated by devs on youtube begging for coverage of thier games. Unlike the original series, which many on Pixlbit have seen in its ealiest forms on 1up, the new CHC, now known as CHC3, has a three-feature structure that revolves around indie, imports and special collectors editions and rare 'ware. Hopefully, CHC 3 will see release by the end of the year.

PAX! PAX! PAX!

Studio Mudprints will be in attendance at PAX Prime this year once again as an official component of Press Pause Radio! In addition to all of the great PAX Editorial many have come to expect from PPR's coverage of this prestigious event, we have a few great things planned, including a get-together at Game Works and sweet giveaways from the Pokémon Orphanage. If you happen to be at the expo and see any of us wandering about, be sure to pull us aside to ask us question, chat or talk about how great Alien Soldier is.

I'll be at PAX this year.  If you see someone with a Pac-Man backpack and running around attending meetings, that'll be me!

Still on the fence whether I'm wearing the ol' Mega Man Beanie my mother made, but if you see it... that's me.

Maybe not on the level that the TG16/PCE or Saturn had, but there were definitely some huge standouts like Ikaruga, Border Down and Triggerheart Exelica, not to mention all of HuCast and NG:DEV's stuff!

Cool. Halifax. I did a bike tour all over Nova Scotia in my teens. Would love to go back there some day.

One day i'll get to PAX East. Maybe I'll see you there?

We missed it this year, but that's a mistake we're fixing for next year.
